R on Windows XP x64
Hi,
I am running R 2.2.0 on the Windows XP x64. The mechanism of error hanlder
seems different. It will take a very long time to pop up a error message
diaglog box, even when some simple errors happen such as "Syntax error" or
"object xxxx not found". Does anybody have the similar experience? Thanks
a lot.
BTW: everything works fine under 32-bit Windows XP, error messages

G729 on Solaris SPARC/x86/x64 Codec
Hi All,
Does anyone know what the current status is of the G729 codec on
Solaris? According to the following link:
http://www.asteriskvoipnews.com/asterisk_releases/_digium_g729_codec_now_available_forsolarissparc.html
there is a version available for SPARC processor's. However, I have just
had a quick look around Digium's FTP server and cannot seem to find
these codecs (supported or

Explorer not refreshing with SAMBA 3.5.x on Solaris 10 x64
I am experiencing a problem with Explorer not refreshing view correctly.
The test case:
(1) Map drive to SAMBA share and open drive in Explorer.
(2) Create an empty file which displays correctly in Explorer, including the size.
(3) Re-open this empty file and fill it with data. The size of the file does not increment as the file is increasing in size. Once the file update has been

Poor rsync performance after upgrade from 5.8 x86 to 6.3 x64
Greetings-
The subject sums it up...
I have a Dell 2950 acting as a general purpose 'storage' machine, handling some NFS work for some local servers, and also pulling in rsync backups of some largish filesystems over SSH. These backups, prior to the upgrade were taking about 6 hours to complete (MANY small files). Now, after the upgrade, the same backups are taking about 16 hours to

help on dyn.load()
Hi,
I used .C to call the C functions inside R. Everything works fine on the
linux sever.
I installed cygwin on my windows xp x64 platform and used rcmd shlib xxx.c
to compile. Everything works fine till now and xxx.dll is generated. But
when I use dyn.load("xxx.dll") in R, it will open another R window and the
original R window becomes "Not responding", nothing loaded in

replace x86 with x64 system and reuse existing LVM
I want to replace an existing 32bit with a 64bit installation (Centos 5).
There's an existing LVM with lots of partitions. Most are used for Xen
guests. The system itself uses only one of them plus a separate /boot
partition that is not on LVM.
What's the best course of action here? Should I do the reinstall with
kickstart or better manually and reuse the existing filesystem? As I

[LLVMdev] Crash using the JIT on x86 but work on x64
Skykill Skyoverside <skyoverside at live.fr> writes:

My guess is that you are hitting a VS C++ ABI missing feature in
Clang. Ask in the Clang mailing list for a confirmation, but IIRC there
are still missing pieces on either object construction/destrucion,
parameter passing, returning classes and C++ exception support.

[LLVMdev] Crash using the JIT on x86 but work on x64
Thank, i have posted a mail about that. What i don't understand, is why it
only work on x64, it should be more logical that it work only on x86, since
most library focus first on working x86 before x64.
The function getMethodPointer come from here

Dovecot SSL issue on Solaris 10 x64 (64-bit)
I'm having an issue with Thunderbird (and Opera) and Dovecot SSL on a
Solaris 10.
My OS is Solaris 10 6/06 x86 (running in 64-bit mode) using ZFS (disk
mirror) as the
filesystem for my users. Dovecot version is 1.0rc7 (logs below are from
1.0rc6).
First the connection asks if the SSL-certificate should be accepted,
accepting it
seems to work but then nothing happens. Thunderbird is

x86 vs x64
Tried with
Ubuntu 9.04 x64
Tomb raider III - major slowdowns and breaks
Crayon physics - no Breaks but very slow
Counter strike 1.6 lower framerates (not much 3-5 fps of diference)
Age of empires II a little slower, can't say if it is a wine regression or x64 fault haven't tried wine 1.20 on x86 yet.
Flash 8 - Normal speed? can't tell if it's faster or slower it runs at normal

My LLVM version is official 3.0.
Anyone give me some tips ? Thanks a lot !

[LLVMdev] Crash using the JIT on x86 but work on x64
Hi, so yes assertions are enabled by default in Debug from what i could see
in the CMakeLists.txt
if( uppercase_CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE STREQUAL "RELEASE" )
option(LLVM_ENABLE_ASSERTIONS "Enable assertions" OFF)
else()
option(LLVM_ENABLE_ASSERTIONS "Enable assertions" ON)

Win7 x64 postscript printer -> samba print Apple Laserwriter not available
Hi folks.
I've got a system where my WinXP (they still work well) workstations have a
virtual printer installed on them.
This virtual printer uses Apple Colour Laserwriter Postscript drivers to
generate PS files which are then printed to a linux server where Samba passes
the file to one of my scripts which then parses the file, extracts data,
coverts the PS to PDF and then inserts the

moving drives containing bricks from one server to another
Hi, I have a gluster volume with bricks spread over several physical
drives. I now want to upgrade my server to a new system and plan to move
the drives from the old server to the new server, with a different host
name and IP address. Can I shut down the gluster volume on the old server,
move and install the physical drives containing the bricks to the new
server, and then create a new gluster
