However, just specifying "R" as in that example is not guaranteed to work, because "R" may not be on the OS's search path. I have a test server setup with Samba 4.1.4. All file interactions test work except when copying files from a CD or DVD to the samba share on Windows 7. As a result we had 396 smbd processes trying to read three files at the same moment with the obvious load average. The reason that all the smbd's were running at the same moment is because the smbd's read the config files every 60 seconds
