Ideas needed on automation of R
I need some guidance on what is the best way to automate R I am aware of
Rterm.
First question: Is it true that R is not currently OLE accessible under
Windows 2000?
Second question: Is there an R command that echoes all R Console results to
a run log system file?
My first attempt to write a run log file is the example from the R Data
Inport/Export documentation.

RPy
I'm curious if there are users of RPy on this list. I've recently
created a gui front end using Tkinter for some python scripts I've
written for some of our internal operations and I am quite pleased with
how this program works.
I wonder if it is possible to also get this gui to run R functions
through the use of RPy. Going even a step further, I wonder if it is
possible to get this

Pipe delimiter ( | ) in "read.delim"
Hi R folks,
Can anyone tell me how to read in a pipe ("|") delimited text file? I've
tried the following:
read.delim("c:/junk/junk.txt",sep="|", skip=7, check.names=FALSE,quote = "",
header=F)
The file looks something like the following:
RD|I|04|013|9997|68103|5|7|017|830|20000221|00:00|12.6||6|||||||||||||

locating rcmd.exe through a batch script
Dear R-sians!
The following command works fine on Dos Prompt, but not in a windows batch
script...
dir /S /B C:\Progra~1\R\R* |findstr /I "rcmd.exe" |findstr /I "2.8.1"
how do I implement the above in a windows batch script? I tried to use:
for /F "usebackq tokens=*" %%i in (`dir /S /B C:\Progra~1\R\R* |findstr /I

escape characters in shell commands
On a Windows platform I am trying to count the number of lines in a file.
In a DOS window, the following works:
C:\Users\jar>findstr /R /N "^" D:\my_dir\my_file | find /C ":"
5317
(it works with double \\ also)
But in R, I need to make this string up with the file name I get from
file.choose():
filename = file.choose()

SIP on Handhelds
Does anyone know if SIP will/is support on handheld PCs such as the iPaq
or Axiom? With their integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth it seems like a
solution to provide a wireless based sip phone for any user would be
possible. Handoff between access points might be problematic but most
users I know would be using their PDA phone in an airport with free
wireless or at the local cafe, etc, etc...

Re: [iPAQ] Ogg Vorbis fixed-point math anyone ?
Actually, we have a integerized version of the vorbis libraries that are
available, royalty free, with a simple attribution requirement. These
libraries are 100% C code and run faster than real time on a cirrus
7312-74mhz processor (arm core). My guess is they should run at about
20-30% cpu utilization on a strongarm/200. Monty has this same code, but
his version doesn't play b4 content real

pari/gp interface
Hi
I'm developing an R package that
needs to execute some code written in pari/gp.
I've used this before from an R package (elliptic) but the interface
is very
basic: the R function creates a string such as the following:
string <- echo ' ellwp ([ 2+0*I , 0+2*I ], 1+0*I )' | gp -q
And then
system(string)
returns the output from gp which then needs to be text processed

Speex for TI 5509 DSP
I saw a thread in the list archives about a speex port to TI 55x DSP.
Wondering how that worked out (is working out)?
Also wondering if there is a source archive for it,
or if the patch in the email archives is still current, or if there's been
updates.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks

Ogg Vorbis fixed-point math anyone ?
A few months ago, there was some discussion about adding fixed-point
support for iPAQ's StrongARM to Ogg Vorbis (whether and how it's
possible, that is). Has anybody tried this yet ?

Bug#589176: xen-utils-common: replace gawk with awk in scripts and Depends
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 4.0.0-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
I am not a gawk/mawk expert, but I looked carefully at the few uses of
gawk that I saw in /etc/xen/scripts/vtpm-common.sh and network-bridge,
and I did not see anything that was gawk-specific. It would be nice if
they could be changed to awk and the dependency on gawk removed.

Need help with pipe()
Hello.
I have an R program that calls gawk (GNU Awk 3.06 for Windows) from
within pipe() to preprocess a large file before it is read into a data
frame with read.table().
I've recently upgraded from Win98SE to WinXP, and have also upgraded
from R1.5.0 to R1.6.1 over the past month or so. This program worked
before the upgrade(s), but now fails. I observe the following sort of
behavior with

Jamey,
There is a previous posting in the speex archives with a link to the dsp c5x

Read every second line from ASCII file
Dear all,
I have an ASCII file where records are separated by a blank. I would like to
read those data; however, only the data in rows 1, 3, 5, 7, ... are
important; the other lines (2,4,6,8,....) contain no useful information for
me.
So far I used awk/gawk to do it:
gawk '{if ((FNR % 2) != 0) {print $0}}' infile.txt > outfile.txt
What is the recommended way to accomplish this in R?
