This seems to be a readline 5.1 error. I was unable to reproduce it with
4.3 or 5.0.

R CMD config --cppflags buglet
As you may recall, a Debian user complained last year about how R is out of
line with respect to the filesystem standards (where, in essence,
architecture independent files should be in /usr/share, not /usr/lib). While
I more or less just told him to get lost, I think it was mostly BDR who
actually added support for this over the summer -- so a public Thanks!

New version of RQuantLib
A new version of RQuantLib has been uploaded to CRAN a few days ago (and
should be available at http://cran.r-project.org and all mirrors). Debian

Among the new features in version 0.2.0, all of which are due to excellent

I am currently testing LDAP (openldap) combined with nss_ldap,
configured with authconfig.
I would start by testing IPA. Redhat is building out a set of
enterprise management tools which include cobbler and spacewalk; I
would think IPA will eventually be integrated into their mgt tools.
That said, if

Graham,
Confirmed. I will pass that along to the R team. As 1.8.0 is in code freeze,
this may not get addressed, unfortunately.

Sorry to be pedantic but you are a little careless about version numbers ....

1.4.1 last I checked, and that is in the Debian mirrors (where testing is frozen, hence the older version).
On CRAN it should be 1.5.1, built on my testing system.

RE: mvtnorm package installation failure
Hi Dirk,
It was actually Debian "testing" that has R 1.4.0. Debian "stable" has R 0.9 or something really old
like that.
Anyways, I did what A.J. Rossini suggested:
# apt-get install libreadline4-dev
Then I installed R-1.5.1 from Debian "unstable". The installation of "mvtnorm" has no trouble after this.
I think that you are probably right: the

Re: Bug#275791: r-gnome: gnome library can not be read (PR#7276)
Dear R bug fixers,
This came in early this morning. The R/Gnome configuration, and selection of
libraries hat not changed one bit since I last built 1.9.1 -- but maybe
something change in the Gmome/Glib/Gtk, or even x11, libraries? Would anyone
know where RestoreAction is defined?
The list of Debian packages on which r-gnome depends is below; as this is
computed from ldd output I won't add

readline with R-1.4.0
Hi,
I am not sure if this is a bug, so I am posting it here. I also searched
the FAQ file for the readline string and did not find anything about the
behavior below.
I just successfully rsync'ed, compiled and tested R-1.4.0 on my RH 7.2
Linux machine. I encountered one problem though. When running ./configure
I noticed that I was getting errors from the readline library. Although
