g++ 4.3 warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to ‘char*’
Hello, I've noticed that with g++ 4.3 I get the following "warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to ?char*?" when I call e.g., Rprintf("Hello world"); or when I try to define a const char e.g., char lower = 'L'; I am wrapping the c++ code in extern "C" {}. This seems to be something new with g++ 4.3, because the same code compiled

interfacing C++ using .Call
Hi folks, I apologise if this is in the documentation somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. I also did a search of CRAN without any success. I'm using R-1.8.1 (pre-compiled) on Windows 2000 with Rtools and mingw 2.0.0 (which includes gcc/g++ 3.2). I'm trying to link some C++ code from another application to R using the .Call interface and am experiencing some problems. I was

possible memory leak in predict.gbm(), package gbm ?
Dear gbm users, When running predict.gbm() on a "large" dataset (150,000 rows, 300 columns, 500 trees), I notice that the memory used by R grows beyond reasonable limits. My 14GB of RAM are often not sufficient. I am interpreting this as a memory leak since there should be no reason to expand memory needs once the data are loaded and passed to predict.gbm() ? Running R version 2.9.2 on

errors when installing rjags
Hi, With the sid package jags (2.0.0-1) and r-base-core (2.11.0-1), I cannot install package rjags anymore (this used to work at some point; can't recall exactly at what R/JAGS versions): ---<--------------------cut here---------------start------------------->--- R> install.packages("rjags", configure.args="--with-jags-modules=/usr/lib/JAGS/modules-2.0.0")

Latent flaw in SEXPREC definition
There seems to be a latent flaw in the definition of struct SEXPREC in Rinternals.h, which likely doesn't cause problems now, but could if the relative sizes of data types changes. The SEXPREC structure contains a union that includes a primsxp, symsxp, etc, but not a vecsxp. However, in allocVector in memory.c, zero-length vectors are allocated using allocSExpNonCons, which appears to

Calling C++ from R
Hi All, I am new to this area and use Rcpp to call C++ from R and try to build the package under Windows 7. I use Rtools and R 2.10.1 32bit. Everything works fine with me, except using R functions like "rnorm" or "runif" in the C++ code. When I use "R CMD check" the package, it always return error ** libs making DLL ... g++

can't get names of R_env
Hi, I'm quite knew in R, so I might not have the R specific jargon. But here is my problem, I'm trying to access and use variabels given by a function environment, more specifically the rho in do_optim in src/main/optim.c According to the documentation http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-ints.html#The-_0027data_0027 the envsxp is defined as a tagged pairlist. Setting up a windows system for rcpp
I am running into a wall getting my system to work with rcpp and inline. Following Dirk's advice on stackoverflow, I hope someone is able to help me. My steps were to install MinGW 32 bit first, then installing Rtools, I disabled MinGW's entry in the PATH. I am trying to get the following code to work: library(Rcpp) library(inline) body <- ' NumericVector xx(x); return wrap(

invalid operands of types ‘SEXPREC*’ and ‘R_len_t’ to binary ‘operator/’ with Rcpp.
Dear R-Developers, I just started learning how to use Rcpp. Earlier while using it, I encountered an error as shown below: file74d8254b96d4.cpp: In function ‘Rcpp::NumericVector foo(Rcpp::NumericVector, Rcpp::NumericVector, Rcpp::NumericVector, Rcpp::Function, Rcpp::Function)’: file74d8254b96d4.cpp:10: error: invalid operands of types ‘SEXPREC*’ and ‘R_len_t’ to binary ‘operator/’ make: ***

How to resolve include Rcpp.h problems?
Hi, I am Linux Ubuntu 9.04 user. I'm using R-2.6. Actually, I am developing R package for reading/writing 3D images. I needed to use the R package Rcpp in order to make profit of available C/C++ codes. My problem is that my C code is not able to include the Rcpp.h In fact, when I run this command R CMD build rply, I got the following error message in the file

Crash in the latest release
I found this by accident yesterday. The program that crashes is the first two lines of the example from the help page for nlmer. That example hasn't changed in a long time, so I assumed that it is an R-devel issue. It could also be a long latent nlmer bug. The second run with valgrind is puzzling. Basic Question regarding PROTECT
Hello, Suppose I have the function SEXP foo(){ SEXP s; PROTECT(s=allocVector(...)) .... UNPROTECT(1); return(s) } y=foo() // foo is a recusrive call Q: Am i correct in understanding that one does not need to write PROTECT(y=foo()) ?(and a corresponding unprotect later on) since it is the object that is protected , SEXP is an alias for SEXPREC* and allocVector probably does some memory

Handle RAWSXP in inspect.c:typename()
Hi all I had written a gdb macro to dump the string representation of an SEXPREC type when I realised everything I needed was in inspect.c already in the typename() function. However, the typename function doesnt handle the RAWSXP type, so if possible, could the following patch be applied (I've just put in inline as it is a trivial 1-liner)? Index: src/main/inspect.c

SEXPTYPEs
Dear list, On a follow up from my previous email, I am now trying to allocate vectors of length larger than 32-bit in C. >From the R internals documentation, I read that: "The sxpinfo header is defined as a 32-bit C structure..." and "A SEXPREC is a C structure containing the 32-bit header..." The question is: does the INTSXP allow vectors larger than 32-bit? A test

LENGTH function causing name conflict
I am attempting to bring R-3.0.2 functionality into a project with a very large C++ codebase. The existing codebase already has a LENGTH function defined. R also defines a LENGTH function. I first compiled R as a shared library and linked it into this existing codebase, along with RInside. When I run a parseEvalQ with a linear model command it will stack dump. Looking at the backtrace, what is

Compiling C++ package source: linking problem?
Dear All I'm currently developing a package for R (1.9.0) on Win32, with C++ source code. Having followed the instructions in readme.packages, my code compiles fine with R CMD SHLIB (as well as R CMD check) ... until I start using the internal R functions. (Interesting: Rprintf seems to be the exception.) For instance, the following code compiles fine: #include <R.h> #include

Error using Rcpp under windows xp
Hi, I am a newbie to Rcpp packages, and got problems in having basic set-ups for Rcpp under windows xp. Here is the list I have done. 1) installed Rtools and have no problem in compiling .c file. 2) installed Rcpp packages 3) set enviroment variables 'path' to make C:\Program Files\R\R-2.12.0\library\Rcpp\include\ searchable The sample C++ code I used is from the original website:
