Rprintf under windows?
Hi, I've been using Rprintf from a shared library compiled under various unix flavour for a while now. I get a warning about Rprintf being undefined when constructing the library, but everything works OK after loading. I've also been cross compiling the same library using the mingw32 tools for a while now, but the inclusion of Rprintf seems to be messing up this process. It can't

argument names in generic print functions (PR#955)
Hello, I think this is a bug, although it is possible that I'm doind something silly. I want to be able to determine the argument name for variables passed to a generic print function suppose we have print.foo <- function(x, ...) { nm<-deparse(substitute(x)) cat("param name is ", nm, "\n") } d<-structure(1, class="foo") Under R-1.2.[2,3] >

R-2.0.1 and Rggobi
Hi, I've had no luck with the combination of R-2.0.1 and Rggobi/gobi (1.1-1 and 1.0-1 beta). I've tried a default configuration of ggobi, as well as one with all the plugins enabled. I'm using RedHat 9 Linux. The problem I'm experiencing is a segmentation fault when library.dynam is called from .First.lib ggobi appears to work OK from the command line. I had an earlier

Building R-1.4 on Tru64
Hello everyone, I've just attempted to build R-1.4 on Compaq Tru64 (I'll enclose the text from bug.report() from R-1.3.1 at the end.) The relevant part of the log is below. Any ideas? gcc -shared -o methods.so do_substitute_direct.o methods_list_dispatch.o method_meta_data.o slot.o -L/usr/local/lib /usr/ucb/ld: Warning: Unresolved: TYPEOF Rf_error Rf_protect Rf_substitute

configure error on alpha (PR#806)
Hi, I've found that the default options of gcc and g77 on alpha produce an executable that suffers from floating exceptions. There seems to be a problem with the configure scripts that prevents the --with-f77 option working correctly. The configure script tests that f77 is running by attempting to compile and link a dummy program - the link step seems broken on the alpha (it doesn't like

explict sharing of symbols between packages
Hi everyone, I'm thinking about breaking up a large package I have to avoid loading some of the more specialised parts when it isn't necessary. The package is dependent on shared libraries. The base one will keep all of the core stuff like constructors etc and the specialised parts will need to access these. It is obviously possible to set the "local" flag to false, however

Finalization and external pointer objects
Hi, I've been developing an image analysis package based on R for a while now and I've had problems relating to garbage collection, so it with great interest that I've noticed the work done by Luke Tierney in this area, and I'd like to discuss how best to fit it into my package. I'll start with how my package is structured - an image is represented by an integer with a class

RDCOMServer for R 2.0.1 + Windows ?
Has anyone managed to get this working? Here's what I did: I got the binary build for R2.0.1 from the Omegahat download page, and made a small change to the registerClassID function ( to make it use the right path to RDCOMServer.dll). Then I tried to replicate the simple TTest example from the same web site. The COM class definition and registration worked fine for me. To test this, I

passing pointer types via .C calls
Hi, this relates to my earlier message about external references and finalizers. I was experimenting over the weekend and now suspect that the appropriate solution to my problem will be to have a special case in the code that handles the .C call so that external references are handled appropriately - I guess that a pointer to the reference should be passed to the C code. As I've never

COM objects with early bindings in R
Dear list member, I am using the packages RDCOMClient and SWinTypeLibs and try to import a COM object (created in Delphi) in R that is of type 'early binding' instead of late 'late binding'. Is there a possibility to do this in R? Currently, the following returns an error message: l1 = LoadTypeLib("c:\\Programme\\INVESCO\\QaCalendar\\Calendar.dll")

4 packages for Windows users
I have finally got around to putting 4 packages on the Omegahat web site for use on Microsoft Windows. The packages are: RDCOMClient - interactive, dynamic access to arbitrary (D)COM objects from within R that allows one to create COM objects from R and call their methods and access their properties without the need to compile any code specific to the COM object. RDCOMServer - facility for

Using mimR
Hi, I am trying to use the mimR Package. According to its help pages it needs the RDCOMClient package to run. When I try to evaluate a model I get > m.sat<-mim("..",data=gm.dat) Error in mim.cmd("clear; clear output") : couldn't find function "COMCreate" > m2.sat<-emfit(m.sat) Error in toMIM(mim$data) : Object "m.sat" not found >

R as COM client (rather than server)
Hello all Can R be used as a COM client (rather than as a COM server)? The following (Splus) code shows the sort of thing I'd like to do: pMIM <- create.ole.object("mim31.Server") NoOutputLines <- call.ole.method(pMIM, "SendCmdLine", "show w") for (i in 1:NoOutputLines) show(call.ole.method(pMIM, "GetOutputLine")) release.ole.object(pMIM)

What does "package 'RDCOMClient' is not installed for 'arch=x64' " exactly mean?
Hi, I'm trying to use the excel.link package to write data to excel spreadsheets. I've installed the RDCOMClient package as required but get the error: package 'RDCOMClient' is not installed for 'arch=x64' I'm on Rx64 2.13.0. I assume it means the RDCOMClient package does not work on the x64 version. I've tried to see if there does a x64 RDCOMClient package

Questions to RDCOMClient
Dear list members, I'm using R in connection with the RDCOMClient and Excel. The more I use the package, the more I'm fascinated of it. The possibilities of R can be brought together with the necessities of outputing my socio-economical research results in MS Office! But I have some special questions concering the use of RDCOMClient and perhaps you can help me solving them: 1. Problems

Problems with DCOM client packages under R 2.0
I am trying to use the Windows COM interface under R 2.0, and have encountered the following difficulties: - the package RDCOMClient installs, loads and works under R 1.9.1, installs under R2.0, but does not load or work under R2.0 - the package SWinTypeLibs does not install or load under either R 1.9.1 or under R2.0 For the moment I am concentrating on the RDCOMClient package as it seems to

R2wd package wdGet() error
I am having trouble using the R2wd package. The last time I used it successfully, I was running an earlier version of R and an earlier version of Word with an earlier Windows OS. I'm not sure which if any of these changes might be contributing to the problem. Right now I'm using R version 2.15.0 (2012-03-30) for Windows MS Word 2010 version 14.0.6112.5000 (32-bit)

R-help Digest, Vol 77, Issue 9
Hi, This may be due to several reasons. That I can think about: 1) Ensure you close *all* possibly open workbooks: nBooks <- xl[["Workbooks"]]$Count(); for (i in seq_len(nBooks)) xl[["Workbooks"]]$item(i)$Close(SaveChanges=FALSE); 2) The excel application reference does not seem to be really released until the garbage collector runs. So this may help: xl$Quit();
