gnuclient problems witrh R/ESS in linux
Dear list, Not strictly R ... In R on Xemacs with ESS (R-2.0.1, Xemacs-21.4.15-r3, ESS-5.2.6) on gentoo-linux when I use k<-edit(k) or fix(k) to change a small vector k <- c(1,2,3,4,5,6) the opened window (called '6b8b4567') appears not to be connected to the gnuclient and I'm able to edit the file but has no instructions in the minibuffer and C-x # gives '6b8b4567 does

R-2.0.1 and Rggobi
Hi, I've had no luck with the combination of R-2.0.1 and Rggobi/gobi (1.1-1 and 1.0-1 beta). I've tried a default configuration of ggobi, as well as one with all the plugins enabled. I'm using RedHat 9 Linux. The problem I'm experiencing is a segmentation fault when library.dynam is called from .First.lib ggobi appears to work OK from the command line. I had an earlier

RGui: windows-record and command history
a) How can I set the recording of all windows()-history forever to "true"? I want something like windows(record = TRUE) but not just for the window that opens then, but for all windows I will open ever. b) Scrolling up in RGui (windows 2000) to see past commands is nice, but: Is it possible to type eg "wi" and the "arrow up" and see the last command that started with

gnuclient.exe as pager ?
Hi, I see there are some previous threads on gnuclient.exe, but I can't figure this out based on those... I recently started using ESS with Xemacs. I'm on Windows XP. On starting iESS, my editor gets set to 'gnuclient.exe'. I don't understand how this works, since there is no executable anywhere on my machine called "gnuclient.exe". But I have no complaints: I like

problems with ESS & R ...
Hi! I have R 1.9.1, Mac OS X 10.3.5, GNU Emacs 21.2.1 and ESS 5.2.3. I installed today the ESS by not changing ess-site.el, but creating .emacs in $home with the single line: $ cat ~/.emacs (load "/usr/local/lib/ess-5.2.3/lisp/ess-site") If I start now emacs and then R (with M-x R) then I get: > options(STERM='iESS', editor='emacsclient') but using fix() oder

A hint to start ESS-xemacs
I'm trying to use ESS & xemacs under debian linux testing and KDE. My problem is that I didn't find any document in the internet explaining a **step by step** session with R and xemacs. The (wrong) procedure I follow (to no avail!) is: 1) I start R in a terminal window; 2) I start xemacs and open a file with the extension .R (test.R); 3) I issue M-x R RET and I can see an Rd new

start-up problems
Hi, After some reading and experimentation I found that I cannot solve this problem: 1. I am starting R and check: > system("pwd") /home/woodstock/hoffmacw/R/test > system("echo $HOME") /home/woodstock/hoffmacw > system("echo $R_PROFILE") /home/woodstock/hoffmacw/R > system("ls $R_PROFILE/.Rprofile") /home/woodstock/hoffmacw/R/.Rprofile

Several libraries won't load with (PR#6927)
Thank you both. 1. It looks like part of the problem is indeed that the packages in the patched version for Windows aren't coordinated with the libraries. rw1090 library(MASS) ## works rw1090pat library(MASS) ## doesn't work library(MASS, lib.loc="c:/progra~1/R/rw1090/library") ## works 2. This doesn't explain why the freshly downloaded Hmisc and multcomp packages

Fwd: Re: CPU usage on Windows
I can't imagine using Windows without Emacs. In particular, the Windows ports of Emacs are very aware of the operating system and usually make the right assumptions. The type of behavior you are noticing can probably be cured by typing C-g in the *R* buffer in emacs. The most likely cause is that the R process in Emacs is waiting for the plot to finish and is querying the plotting device.

Using XEmacs and ESS with R for MS/Windows
I've been working on a document describing the use of XEmacs and ESS with R for Windows users, along with configuration files that are meant to make things simple for Windows users. This was initially intended for my students, but with recent discussions of Windows (and other) editors on the the R-help list, I thought that I'd make the material more widely available. The document

Direction of panel plots in trellis graphics
Hi, Using library(lattice), is there any way to tell xyplot to plot panels top to bottom, then left to right (i.e. panels are appended vertically, then horizontally). as.table changes the plot direction from left-to-right then top-to-bottom, to right-to-left then bottom- to-top, but that's not quite what I want to do. Thanks Yan

emacs, Mac OS X, R
Hi! Since August I am using emacs on my Macintosh to edit the R objects. I have installed R 1.9.1, Mac OS X 10.3.5 and GNU Emacs 21.2.1. However there are some issues I haven't resolved: a) switch the caps lock key to the meta key (and when this is not possible, switch the alt/option key to the meta). The switch should work only within emacs! b) having different colors for the code,

Saving Trellis Graphics in R 1.9.0. (PR#6915)
Full_Name: Zdenek Valenta Version: 1.9.0. OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (147.231.7.250) I could not copy/save (Trelis) graphics using R version 1.9.0. Windows Graphics Device Lockups with Rterm
I've been using Rterm with ESS to run R for some time. Recently I've experienced lockups when displaying graphics; the first display seems to work, but then refuses to respond and must be killed with dev.off(). Rgui has no problems. I've tried eliminating all other processes that might cause conflicts, to no avail. I'm using win XP and R 2.9.0. Here's a transcript using rterm:
