I have just used the RAqua.pkg to install R, and it doesn't work! I have Mac OS X 10.3, and the old version of R works OK, but the .pkg thing installed, and then when I double-click on the "StartR" application nothing happens. It would seem that R 1.8 doesn't like the version of libiconv that Panther has installed. Can we compile this for Aqua ourselves or will there be a binary for we who upgrade sooner rather than later? While playing around with panther I discovered (with surprise) that tcltk seems to work (even if not smoothly) with RAqua without first calling tkStartGUI. I switched back to 10.2.6 and it works as well. I think this is due to the "last minute" fix in RAqua now using idle timers because of too much cpu usage. Some "mouse" trick is needed though.
