power.t.test needs to check delta==NULL before abs(delta) (PR#3139)
Something like the following should be done for power.t.test to make sure that it doesn't try to evaluate abs(NULL), which results in an error. --- rossini.power.t.test.R 2003-05-30 07:24:49.000000000 -0700 +++ rossini.power.t.test.R.~1~ 2003-05-30 08:47:09.000000000 -0700 @@ -10,7 +10,7 @@ alternative <- match.arg(alternative) tsample <- switch(type, one.sample = 1,

assigning NULL to a list element
Hi everyone, For reasons beyond the scope of this message, I'd like to append a NULL element to the end of a list. tmp0 <- list(a=1, b=NULL, c=3) append(tmp0, c(d=4)) ## works as expected append(tmp0, c(d=NULL)) ## list with a/b/c only Given that I could use tmp0$a <- NULL to remove 'a', I seem to understand why appending NULL returns me the original list... But how should I

Re-assigning variables stored as character strings in another variable
Is there any way to get the last line of this code to double the contents of a and b without naming them directly? #create variables a and b a<-5 b<-10 #store variable names a and b in variables c and d c<-"a" d<-"b" e<-c(c,d) #loop through both variables for (i in e){ #print the numbers five and ten using only the variables c and d #this line works fine

Why SAM has totally diffent results in R2.1.1 and R2.4.0
Hi, I am using SAM (from siggenes_1.2.11 package) method to select genes from a microarray data set. After installing the latest R2.4.0 on my computer, to my surprise the results are totally different from that calculated using R2.1.1. Even the example code doesn't work the same way under these two versions of R. Does anybody know what is going on? Thanks for any suggestions.

[PATCH v3] use INT64_MAX as max expiration
Change from v2: Correct the logic when calculating icount. Change from v1: According to Jan and Stefano''s comments, drop the previous logic which setting the value in an arbitrary way and use Stefano''s suggestion instead. Currently, the max expiration time is 2147483647ns(INT32_MAX ns). This is enough when guest is busy, but when guest is idle, the next timer will be later than

Rank Simulations - Test statistic Help
Hi all, I am a biostatistician and I have developed my own ranking system for clinical data. I would like to test the efficiency of it w.r.t. to other ranking systems. I would like to simulate the data and after assigning ranks to my observed scores(after neglecting dropouts), observe the type I error. If I want to do a Kruuskal Wallis type of test, what test statistic should I use to test for a

appending
All, In the function below I have 24 individuals and 6 calculations per individual. The 6 calculations are collected each time in a 1:24 loop when calculating "delta". I'd like to collect all 144 = 24*6 calculations in one vector ("delta.patient.comb"). The function works as is via indexing, but is there an easier way to collect the measurements via appendinng the 6

openssh-2.1.0p3 & NetBSD 1.4.2
I have a need to set up an ssh login server that groks both ssh1 and ssh2. I'm trying to build openssh-2.1.0p3 on NetBSD 1.4.2. Configure fails when it tries to build the test program conftest. It's not obvious fron config.log exactly what is going wrong. Has anyone built that latest openssh under NetBSD 1.4.2? Thanks in advance. -- Rick Kelly rmk at rmkhome.com www.rmkhome.com
