Last line in .Rprofile must have newline (PR#4056)
Full_Name: Henrik Bengtsson Version: R v1.7.1 OS: WinXP Pro, Solaris 9 Submission from: (NULL) (130.235.2.229) A colleague of mine who is new to R had problems setting up his .Rprofile and we tracked it down to the following. On both WinXP and Solaris with Rv1.7.1 we noticed that the *last* line in .Rprofile has to have a *newline* to be evaluated. For instance, starting R with the following

Enhancement request for bringToTop()
Currently (R-2.7.1 on Windows) bringToTop(stay=TRUE) when run before a device is opened, gives the error message > bringToTop(stay=TRUE) Error in bringToTop(stay = TRUE) : can only bring windows devices to the front > In the same circumstances, a call to par() opens a device. My request is to modify bringToTop(). If bringToTop() determines that it is running in an interactive

Milestone: 1000 packages on CRAN as of today(?)
Hi, I was just looking at the "CRAN Daily Package Check Results" [http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/checkSummary.html], and realized there are 1000 packages on CRAN as of today (look at row 3 in the table below). Yet another quite extraordinary milestone in R history. Last updated on 2007-04-12 11:48:32 Results for installing and checking packages using the three current flavors

R CMD INSTALL is sensitive to trailing newlines in DESCRIPTION.in
Hi, with R v1.7.1 (=I don't recall I saw it before) I noticed that R CMD INSTALL sometimes generates nonsense information, e.g. "Bundle: NA", even if there was a correct DESCRIPTION file too. I turns out that it happens when a DESCRIPTION.in has empty lines at the end. I have observed this behavior on both Sun Solaris 9 and Windows XP Pro (but here I am using unsupported Cygwin w/

Rcmd
Hola! I have problems running Rcmd check (windows 98, R1.3.0) It ckoks on an example running a function which calla bringToTop(). This makes an error because Rcmd check runs the examples with the postscript device, and bringToTop does not make sense with that device. Howevere, my function is for interactive use, and needs bringToTop. How can this be used in examples and still have the

biplot package
Dears, I've been learning biplot (Gabriel, 1971) and I found the function 'biplot', inside of the package 'stats', useful but, a bit limited. So, I'm thinking to start a colaborative package to enhance this methods to other multivariate methods. In this way, I would like to start it, making public a new function (biplot.pca, still in development, but running) that make

Instead of the default name e.g.: "Device 2" I would like

User input after opening graphing device
If I run the following: > windows() > > bringToTop(-1) > > interactive() [1] TRUE > > run <- readline(prompt = "Continue (Yes = 1, No = 2):") Continue (Yes = 1, No = 2): > dummy <- 1 > run [1] "" it does not allow user input though the session is interactive (it jumps right over the readline command). It would be great

Detect incoming fax on PSTN and route to fax machine on DADHI extension?
I'm running an AsteriskNow V1.7.1 with both a PSTN connection and fax machine. Both are connected to a DAHDI board. I'd like to route incoming PSTN fax calls to the extension of the fax machine and process non-fax calls through different dialplan.logic. What's the best way to go about doing this? I've looked into Fax for Asterisk, bit I'm not sure that I want it or NVFax

RE: [R] ^ operation much slower in R 1.7.1 than in R 1.7 .0 ???
I have both the CRAN binary and my own compiled version of R v1.7.1 on the same machine (Dell Pentium III 800 MHz running NT 4) Using the example provided earlier: > phi <- 1.6180339887498949 > a <- floor(runif(750000)*1000) > system.time(b <- (phi^a - (-phi)^(-a))/sqrt(5))[3] I get 10.99 secs on the CRAN binary and 2.09 secs on my own compiled version. I hope this helps

Hi, perhaps the answer to my question is obvious and I didn?t find it because I?m new to R ... OK Then I put these commands together in a *.R file which I can process ... Among these i. e. is sum_input = summary(mydatatable) sum_input ..... plot(mydatatable) What

zip.unpack() crashes R (PR#2818)
Full_Name: Henrik Bengtsson Version: R v1.7.0 OS: WinXP Pro Submission from: (NULL) (130.235.2.229) There seems to be an upper limit of the number of files (approx 1000 files) a zip-file can contain when unpacking it with zip.unpack(). This results in an R crash. This bug is urgent since install.packages() relies on zip.unpack() and too big packages/bundles won't install with the current R
