problems compiling R on AIX5.1 (PR#2953)
Dear all, after trying to compile R on our IBM Power3/AIX 5.1 machine I've been able to run it correctly. First of all I would thank all who responded my mails. I explain here how I've done it: First of all, it seems that configure and some shared libraries of AIX does not work at the same time. I tried to configure & make with the following environment vars CC=xlc F77=xlf CCC=xlC

problems compiling R on AIX5.1
Hello, I'm trying to compile R (versions 1.6.0, 1.6.1, 1.6.2 and 1.7.0) on our IBM Power3 Machine for an external user. I always used to configure with ./configure --prefix=/scratch_tmp/harald/instala I've never achieved to compile 1.7.0 because it seems that a file called R.exp is missing (or maybe it's not well referenced on the makefile). Output of make: .... xlc_r

Hi, I have been able to build R-2.9.2 on AIX 6.1 and AIX 5.2. However, I failed to build R-2.10.0 and later releases on these AIX platforms. (PR#1289)
Dear all, I've found a bug report for R when installing it on an AIX5.1 system. There's a followup (number 4) that comments a segmentation fault on R when quitting "q()". I'm using a newer version of R but on the same operating system and I obtain the same error. There was a way to solve this problem? Best regards and thanks, --

Matrix loading hangs on AIX 5.3 with 3.1.2
Hi all, Yes, I know 5.3 is old, but it's a system I have to work with at present. I have the latest supported xlC + friends. gcc building is not an option on this system for other reasons. I have read the install instructions and set the env vars according to those and also am using the freeware iconv and other GNU tools where needed. Problem - the Matrix package hangs on installing.

gcc on AIX is not compatile with R-1.9.1
Hi Uwe Liqqes, Does the successful compilation for R-1.9.1 on AIX 5.1 depend on the IBM AIX compiler for C and C++ (xlc/xlC)? gcc on AIX is not compatible with R1.9.1. R-1.8.0 + IBM VisualAge/C for AIX compiler
A while ago I compiled R 1.7.0 for AIX (with the above compiler - I'll call it xlc) and I was surprised that it went quite smoothly. Unfortunately with R 1.8.0 it's not as easy, but I succeeded at least partially. Static R works fine (after some tweaking), but --enable-R-shlib fails resp. produces a buggy R. Following are the problems I encountered (in a warning-to-fatal-error

running R on AIX (>= 4.2)
(Was: r-help -- dynload for R on AIX) Thanks for all the responses. Let's see: - I found the dynload.c posted by Arne (April 99, I believe). If the difference to the current version of dynload.c is too big, then the current dynload.c is a better starting point. Otherwise #ifdef's won't be feasible. - One problem appears to be the list of exported symbols.

R292 on AIX53 using gcc
I apologize for cross posting this message in the R-help group as well. Having posted it there a couple of hours ago, I felt this may be a more appropriate forum for a question of this type. Hello -- I am unable to build R 2.9.2 on IBM PowerPC AIX5.3. I would appreciate any help in this matter. ===============details============================== Machine: IBM PowerPC_POWER5 / 4 proc, 1499
