lattice: postscript() false margins (PR#949)
Using lattice the posscript(file="") device gives false margins: zz <- data.frame( y=rnorm(100),x=rnorm(100),z=round(rnorm(100)), g=as.character(rep(1:2,50))) postscript(file="/tmp/tmp.ps") xyplot(x~y|g,data=xx) dev.off() whereas dev.print(postscript,file="") works fine dev.print(postscript,file="/tmp/tmp.ps")

npc to native coordinates for xyplot
Hello, I am having trouble adding symbols to grid graphics. I am able to create a lattice scatterplot using xyplot, which has a range from -15:15 in both the X and Y directions. However, when I try to add circles and text to this graph using grid.circle() and grid.text(), they are offset using the default npc coordinates. Nothing happens when I pass the parameter default.units="native"

lattice/points and pch="c" inconsistencies
Hi, The current lattice/grid packages seem to position character plotting symbols (e.g., ".") differently than the base function points. The following shows what I mean: ## plain old points() positions the pch="." right at y = c(0,1), ## and thus abline(h = c(0,1)) completely hides the points "." ## (provided the output device has enough resolution, like

lattice grob
Dear list, I'm trying to arrange various grid objects on a page using a frameGrob. It works fine with basic grobs (textGrob, gTree, etc.), and also with ggplot2 objects using the ggplotGrob() function. I am however stuck with lattice. As far as I understand, lattice produces a list of class trellis, which is eventually displayed using the plot.trellis method. I am not sure if/how one can

Hmisc and Lattice question on gridlines
I have been using lattice xyplot and am quite pleased, and I can use the type=c("b","g") to have it print gridlines into the page, yet if I want to have a line plot with points on it, how do I get the xYplot to print gridlines (I use Hmisc xYplot because of its bands method which allows plotting of confidence intervals). Any suggestions? I have looked at the panel functions but

new versions of grid and lattice
Hi There are new versions of the grid and lattice packages on CRAN: grid 0.2 and lattice 0.3-0 These packages are still _under development_ (they are in CRAN/src/contrib/Devel) There have been some bug fixes and, especially in lattice, there are lots of new features. Descriptions of the changes are included below. If you have any grid code, it may break under the new version because of a

Adding title to colorkey
A recent paper on visualisation (in Neuron, a leading neuroscience journal) surveyed how well previous articles in this journal labelled their graphs (e.g. axis labelling and describing their error bars). Of particular interest is that (only) 40% of plots labelled what their colorkey was showing (variable and units). The paper is at http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.neuron.2012.05.001 R is not yet

Location of grobs etc on lattice output
Is there any way, after use of print.trellis(), to obtain the co-ordinates of the plot region, e.g., in what are then the native co-ordinates? e.g. library(DAAG) library(lattice); library(grid) data(cuckoos) pushViewport(viewport(layout=grid.layout(2, 1))) pushViewport(viewport(layout.pos.row=1)) cuckoos.strip <- stripplot(species ~ length, data=cuckoos) print(cuckoos.strip,

lattice : using both strip and strip.left
Dear all, I'm routinely using lattice and ggplot2, I wish to create a lattice theme that looks not too dissimilar to ggplot's defaults so I can include both graphs in a document with a consistent look. To illustrate my questions, consider the following example: > library(ggplot2) > library(lattice) > > # example data > x <- seq(0, 10, len = 100) > y1 <-

Trying to tile wireframe plots (using lattice package)
Hi all, I'm trying to print a number of wireframe plots (generated using the lattice package), and I want them to appear in a two-by two matrix along with some other (standard) plots. In other words I am trying to create a subplot or tiled plot that works for wireframes. I've tried the methods discussed in: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e2/help/07/07/21238.html but while they work

help with using grid to modify ggplot/lattice plots
I want to use grid to modify some boxplots made using ggplot. I would really appreciate if somebody could guide me to a resource on how to use grid to modify such graphics. I guess the basic approach will be similar to using grid to modify lattice graphics. To that extent something that explains use of grid to modify lattice graphics may also be useful. I have gone through vignettes in the grid

Copying and printing lattice graphics (PR#7004)
Full_Name: Olafur Arnar Ingolfsson Version: 1.9.1 OS: Win XP Submission from: (NULL) (213.236.225.194) Copying lattice graphics only works with copy as bitmap. Printing the graphic window doesn't work either. I have the same problem with 1.9.0 and 1.9.1, just updatet packages If I have done som (obvious) mistake, I do apologize. x.val <- rnorm(100,50,3) library(grid);library(lattice)

lattice dotplot and graphic devices on Windows
I am using R1.4.0 on WindowsNT (the precompiled version from Brian Ripley's website) and the lattice package (version details are at the end of this message). After producing a lattice dotplot, I want to insert the graph into a MicrosoftWord document. With "ordinary" R-graphics, I have done this successfully by copying the graph as a metafile to the clipboard and pasting this into my

Lattice plot problem outputting to jpeg
Hi.....I am relatively new to R but was quite pleased with myself at having generated a series of lattice plots as PDFs. I was very surprised when plotting these out as jpegs (or png or tiff) that the strip title information above each lattice plot vanished. The pdf was fine. Has anybody any ideas? I can't add an image as the information is sensitive. Many Thanks Steve Creamer Here is the

panel.axis() & grid/lattice settings
Hello, I wish to customize the tick marks and labels of axes in panels produced by high-level lattice functions, namely xyplot. I know I can use the scales argument to specify values for rot, cex, etc. in the top-level call. However, I am interested in determining values for cex and rot based on the current panel / viewport and device. More specifically, I would like to make adjustments when
