Feature freeze on recommended packages coming up
As of 19:00 GMT we'll declare a feature freeze on the set of recommended packages. We will then have one week to ferret out as many problems as we can before final code freeze and platform testing. At the same time R-base is code-frozen, i.e. only critical bugs will be fixed. If you want to help making R 1.5.0 as bug-free as possible, it could be a good idea to install the set of

Rcmd?
Hello, a short question: I cannot find the Rcmd file in the my installed Windows R Program. It is not known as a command inside R (which is not intended as I suppose) nor as an executable or similar file elsewhere? How can I make my own package? Holger -- PD Dr. habil. Any interest in ATLAS-enabled R-1.4.0 for MSWin?
Hi all, I've compiled R-1.4.0 on my NT box with link against ATLAS. It has passed all the Rcmd CHECK that I could run. If there's sufficient interest, I can make the SetupR.exe available (on CRAN?). Just drop me a note if you're interested. Note the following: o I can only connect thru 56K dial-up until Jan. 2, 2002, so unless there's overwhelming demand, I won't attempt

Obtaining Rcmd.exe for Windows
Hi, I've installed the latest version of R by running SetupR.exe, but it doesn't come with Rcmd.exe. Is there an easy way to obtain this file without going through compiling the source code and all that? Rcmd SHLIB in rw1031 (R for Win)
Thanks for the answers on readme.packages. I have installed Rw1031 from SetupR.exe including the option for compiling source files and, following directions in www.stats.ox.ac.ul/pub/Rtools, have installed: -tools.zip -Perl (Active Perl) -mingw-1.1.tar.gz -copied sh.exe to c:\bin\sh.exe After Perl installation, its directory is added to my path. I have also added the directory where the R

AW: running Rcmd INSTALL, again
Indeed, there is no file named "dlltool" anywhere around here! So, at last I am beginning to suspect that my collection of tools is incomplete. What I have got is "rw1020sp.zip" and "http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/RWin/tools.zip". These are properly istalled, I think. readme.packages says "If your package has no C nor Fortran nor C++ sources, see `Simple

packages on windows
I am trying to write my first R package. The file 'Creating R packages' instructs me to create a 'man' subdirectory for the help files (with an Rd extension). However when I look at other libraries I do not find a man subdirectory (I find html dirs). Also I am told to include a keyword from the KEYWORDS.db. However this file is not on my system? Any suggestions? I am working

R 1.5.0 scheduled for April 29th, feature freeze April 8
The core team has decided to release R 1.5.0 on April 29th. Somewhat earlier than maybe expected, but we realized that we needed a phase-shift away from our usual cycle with main releases in June and December since it was placing feature freezes just when several members were in a creative phase due to end of teaching. The roadmap is as follows April 8 feature freeze on r-base April 15 code

problem installing quadprog
When I try to build/install the quadprog package under R1.50 and NT4 it seems to have trouble finding blas routines. I'm currently using the generic blas routines, rather than ATLAS or some other tuned implementation: > Rcmd INSTALL d:/temp/quadrprog ... gcc --shared -s -o quadprog.dll quadprog.def quadprog.a quadprog_res.o -Lc:/a pps/rw1050/src/gnuwin32 -lg2c -lR

Feature freeze for R-1.5.0
OK, so the feature freeze for 1.5.0 is on as of now. Basically this means that we will not add new features or API modifications before the release on April 29. The set of recommended packages will go into a similar feature freeze one week from now, when the base package will enter a hard code freeze (only critical bugs fixed), and a week further on, also the recommended packages will go into

Makefile for installing all available packages
Below is a makefile I wrote to download and install all available R packages from the CRAN and BioConductor package repositories. The primary advantage of using this makefile instead of R's built-in install.package() and update.packages() is the creation of a separate installation log for every package. Further, if make is invoked with '-k', failure to install a single package

EGCS optimizer bug?
The current development version dies in qbeta() when compiled with egcs -O, egcs 1.0.2 and glibc 2.0.7 (RedHat versions). Since this also kill the F and t distributions, it doesn't exactly do wonders for R's usefulness... Anyone else seeing this or has my setup just gone out of whack? It does look pretty much like a clear compiler bug when inlining math functions (storing temporaries

Other question: maxsilence and silencethreshold don't seem to have any effect on voicemail. Could it be possible that in certain situation it just wont work? I tried adding some verbose in
