Compiling R-2.12.1 with gcc 3.4.6 on Sun Sparc Solaris 10
Dear R-HELP,
We are compiling R-2.12.1 for 64 bits onto a Sun Sparc machine below:
SunOS 5.10 Generic_142900-13 sun4u sparc SUNW,Netra-T12
The source was compiled successfully with "gcc version 3.4.6" by using the
default configuration and has produced R-2.12.1 in 32 bits.
Compiling R-2.12.1 for the 64 bits by configuring the config.site file as
follow:

Compiling Matrix on Solaris 10 x86-64 Sun Studio 12
Hi all,
I have trouble to compile Matrix packages on Solar10 x86-64 with Sun compilers.
I saw some postings on this but am not sure how to solve this problem.
It is becoming critical as I cannot install biocLite() because of its dependency on Matrix.
Could you direct me how to resolve the issue?
Thanks in advance!

Building R on Sun Solaris 10 (SPARC) using Sun Studio 12
R Help List:
Just curious if anyone has successfully built R on a SPARC
platform running Sun Solaris 10 using the latest Sun Studio
12 set of compilers. If so, I would be interested in the
compile flags that you used.
I have tried several different builds of version 2.5.1, 2.6.0,
and 2.6.1 using various different compile flags and I am able
to compile and check, but for whatever reason, the

map_ptr warning
I am trying to finalize the use of rsync for updatiung a new nfs server
before we take the old one offline. I keep getting the following
warning during the rsync process:
Warning: unexpected rad size of 0 in map_ptr
Any ideas where this comes from and how to make it go away? I am using
rsync 2.5.2 on Solaris 8 to pull data from rsync 2.5.2 on Solaris 7.

SAMBA 3.0.3x and Sun Java One Directory Server 5.2 LDAP authentication
Is there a link or document that gives a good introduction to using Sun Java
One Directory Server 5.2 for LDAP authentication with SAMBA on Solaris 10?
We have the schema loaded and have a functioning LDAP server with POSIX
attributes. How does one specify LDAP is the backend database to use for
SAMBA authentication? What attributes are necessary and which are not
necessary for SAMBA use?

Error when running configure on xeon with r-1-9-patched
Dear list,
I'm having a problem configuring R-1-9-patched on a Intel Xeon machine
running Fedora Core 2. I used svn to checkout the source, altered
config.site to add some optimisation flags to match the Fedora rpm on
CRAN (the flags work fine on two other P3 or P4 machines I've compiled R
on).
./configure fails with:

RJS Error: Element.update is not a function
Hi,
I have implemented some RJS code and I have the same exact code in 2
different places. In one place I get the error "Element.update is not
a function" and the other place works fine. Any idea why this error is
coming? Breaking my head.
