feature request: multi-language support
Could it be possible for packages to have manuals in multiple languages? I'm not saying all manuals should be in multiple languages, but I think there should be a mechanism for package writers to add manuals in multiple languages, if they think it useful. -- Peter Kleiweg

Distributed computing
Dear all, does anyone know if there exists an effort to bring some kind of distributed computing to R? The most simple functionality I'm after is to be able to explicitly perform a task on a computing server. Sorry if this is a non-informed newbie question... new lattice/grid
I just installed R-1.4.0 on my Win2k machine from SetupR.exe. Everything seems to be fine with the base and recommended packages. However, when I install the lattice and grid packages they do not seem to work. Everything I try results in something like this: Instruction 0x00543f06 refernced memory 0x00000000. The memory cannot be "read". and I am getting kicked out of R. Has

lattice problems under Win2K and R-1.4.0
I'm having problems copying and saving lattice graphs using R-1.4.0 under Win2k. It seems I've see this alluded to recently in R-help. If I do the following example: > data(quakes) > xyplot(long ~ lat , data = quakes) And then try to copy or save the graph as either a metafile or bitmap or if I use any of the bitmap/metafile devices via (for example) >

Full_Name: John Abraham Version: rw1031 OS: Windows 2000 Professional Submission from: (NULL) (136.159.125.21) A friend introduced me to "R", and it seems just what I need -- a good statistical package with an open source flavour so that, if it doesn't do what I need it to do, I can extend it. I installed the latest windows binary, and when I try to run it I get a window

Versions of R 1.4.0 for Windows
We have removed from CRAN the seemingly faulty version of R 1.4.0 for Windows and replaced it by the one I built on Dec 20 that is known to work with grid and lattice. I've built a SetupR-patched.exe today from the current R-patched sources and with the latest versions of the recommended packages. You might prefer to change to that if you want to re-install: otherwise wait for R 1.4.1 in a

Any interest in ATLAS-enabled R-1.4.0 for MSWin?
Hi all, I've compiled R-1.4.0 on my NT box with link against ATLAS. It has passed all the Rcmd CHECK that I could run. If there's sufficient interest, I can make the SetupR.exe available (on CRAN?). Just drop me a note if you're interested. Note the following: o I can only connect thru 56K dial-up until Jan. 2, 2002, so unless there's overwhelming demand, I won't attempt

No subject
Philippe Grosjean raised the question of transparency in the context of writing Windows metafiles, but it has come up before for bitmapped graphics. I've taken a look in the sources, and what we do now is inconsistent. The postscript/xfig/pdf devices do not paint the background iff it is "white". All the screen devices always paint the background, as do the bitmap devices and all

I am running 1.4.0 on Win2K. I installed using SetupR.exe, but since I do not have admin privileges I installed to c:\rw1040. R as shared library
Hello folks, I'm embarking on a project to embed R into the Apache web server, and I'd like your help. Currently, I'm looking for a way for R code to call back into a shared library from which the R shared library was loaded. Essentially, apache starts and loads mod_R.so which runs an initialization routine which calls Rf_initEmbeddedR() and the following code: /* override to

[LLVMdev] Referring to an argument in another function
I would like to instrument certain function calls with a function call of my own that takes some of the same arguments. For example, I would like to instrument calls to free with some function foo, so the C code would look like: foo(myarg1, myarg2, ptr); free(ptr); The problem occurs when I grab the arg from the free function and try to pass it to foo... if (isCallToFree(&I)) { Value*
