Command-line history not working...
I am trying to build [R] v1.3.1 *locally* on a Sun Solaris 8 machine. One problem I am currently struggeling with is to make the command-line history function to work. I have installed GNU readline version 4.2 (latest version). Looking at the "config.log" file it seems that all readline related checks, e.g. "readline/history.h", passes (they did not before installing GNU

Problem with umlaut on windows server
Hallo Samba-users, I've got a problem mounting a windows-share via mount / smbmount: The mount itself works without any problem, but when I try to enter a directory with a Umlaut (such as "?,?,?") the command fails. All the umlauts are replaced with a question mark when I "ls" in the directory which contains the directory with the umlaut. Changing the character set

ASCII map?
Is there a way to convert between and integer and a character and vice versa? For instance i <- 65; ch <- intToChar(i); # "A" i <- charToInt(ch); # 65 or even better i <- c(65, 66); ch <- intToChar(i); # c("A", "B") i <- charToInt(ch); # c(65, 66) I have tried to do a ASCII map myself, and I figured out that the ASCII

Loading tcltk package fails on WinMe/Cygwin but works with Rgui
I am investigating how well R/tcltk is supported on different system and I ran into the same problem as Christian Schulz reported on February 7, 2002. I am using [R] v1.4.1 on WinMe and ActiveTcl 8.3.2. Loading tcltk within Rgui works just fine and both demo(tkdensity) and demo(tkttest) works as expected. However, when I start R from my Cygwin terminal dyn.load() fails to load the library: % R

rkhunter doesn't remove temp suspscan files in /dev/shm
Alle, I know this is off-topic, so I apologize in advance, but we have installed rkhunter from EPEL (because it has the current version, 1.3.6 vice the 1.3.4 rpmforge version) on our CentOS machine and find that it does not remove the files in /dev/shm it uses for the SUSPSCAN test, this triggering a warning for said test. This was a known bug that was supposed to be have been fixed in V1.3.1.
