Trouble debugging with gdb, R on Windows
I'm trying to follow the example in the R for Windows FAQ on running
gdb and am getting stuck because gdb tells me "Cannot access memory at
address ...".
Here's what my gdb session looks like (This one from a cygwin shell,
but same results from plain Windows CMD shell):
$ cd R-devel/src/gnuwin32
$ gdb ../../bin/Rgui.exe
GNU gdb 5.2.1

unexpected behavior of unzip with list=T and unzip=/usr/bin/unzip
Hello,
I encountered some unexpected behavior of unzip when using info-zip's unzip
instead of R's internal program. Specifically, unzip("file.zip", list=TRUE,
unzip=/usr/bin/unzip) produces incorrect output if the zip archive has
filenames with spaces, and results in an error if the zip archive includes
an archive comment or file comments.
Here is some code to reproduce along

Possible win32-dir mods
Hi Zach (or anyone with VC++ 6),
I was hoping you would test a couple things for me.
The first thing I would like you to try is replacing
"#include <shlobj.h>" with "#include <shfolder.h>".
That, or try including both.
If that doesn''t do the trick, the next thing I''d like
to try is commenting out all the rb_define_const lines

R from SVN fails to build on win32
I get the following error when building R from the subversion server as
well as the latest tarball. I am on Windows XP, and I recently updated
my MinGW installation. It's quite possible I am doing something wrong,
but I am not sure what that might be.
making console.d from console.c
making dataentry.d from dataentry.c
making dynload.d from dynload.c
making edit.d from edit.c

CentOS 7, NSF, "feature" [SOLVED]
The issue: NFS fails to start in CentOS 7 if it cannot resolve any of a
list of hosts.
Well, my manager had to google to find the *truly* obscure solution that
uses a deeply oddball syntax.
In /usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-server.service, you edit the following line
so that it looks like this:
ExecStartPre=-/usr/sbin/exportfs -r
Notice the *deeply* weird syntax of "=-<cmd>". This

Windows testing
R 1.4.0 is now sinking into feature freeze, and we'd like some help
testing it under Windows. Duncan Murdoch and Uwe Ligges have already
volunteered.
I've put a copy of SetupR140.exe at
http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/RWin
Also in that directory is a file TESTING suggesting some tests, not all of
which have been run on this build. As the graphics internals have been
changed a lot

SIGSEGV in R_RunWeakRefFinalizer, object allocated with Rcpp
Hi all,
I'm not sure if I'm not supposed to do the following (the dyn.unload
part, I mean) or this could be a bug (in R or Rcpp):
```
Rcpp::sourceCpp(code='
#include <Rcpp.h>
class Object {};
//[[Rcpp::export]]
SEXP new_object() {
return Rcpp::XPtr<Object>(new Object());
}'
)
Samba, DOS, ARJ
Hello All,
I have problem on workstations with PC-DOS 2000 with MS Network Client 3.0 connected
to Samba 3.0.14a-0.4 (default on SLES 9) when I want to use ARJ.EXE (latest version 2.84) and unpack
archive xxxx.arj. When this archive is on network drive shared by samba unpacking does infinite loop.
For example arj l x:\xxx.arj produce never ending listing (and start of this listing is very slow).
Cross-compilation of R and ld bug ?
Hello list,
I would like to cross-compile R packages using R 2.4.0. I am working on
Linux Debian and cross-compiled (windows binaries) without problems with
older R version.
I have used the doc of Yan and Rossini in the contributed section of the
R documentation (same version of MinGW...).
When I try to cross-compile R (make R), the procedure stopped and returns :
