f2c
I have a problem with my dynamically loaded code in R not finding pow_ii, which
for some time I thought was because library f2c is not on my Sparcstation.
However, I have now been experiencing the same problem in Linux, with all the
proper libraries in place.
My incomplete understanding of elf and shared libraries does not help, but when
compiling a complete program I usually muddle through.

DSE revised for R 0.90.1
A slightly revised version of my DSE package for multi-variate time series
analysis is now available at <www.bank-banque-canada.ca/pgilbert>. This
version works with R 0.90.1 (and not with R 90.0 or earlier versions). It can
also be installed with
install.packages(c("syskern", "tframe", "dse"),

Fwd: dse package - load failure
Hello,
Sorry a second time again,
Maybe I have to add that I'm running R under Windows 2000/XP, and
that the download works properly under 1.062 but not under 1.070.

In my experiments it *does* put out an error but continues.

simulating a VARXls model using dse
Hello,
Using the dse package I have estimated a VAR model using estVARXls().
I can perform forecasts using forecast() with no problems, but when I
try to use simulate() with the same model, I get the following error:
Error in diag(Cov, p) :
'nrow' or 'ncol' cannot be specified when 'x' is a matrix
Can anyone shed some light on the meaning of this error? How can I

R CMD check --help
This example from the INSTALL help seems to be broken in R 0.90.1 (on Solaris):
gilp/dse : R CMD check --help
Usage: R CMD check [options] [-l lib] pkg_1 ... pkg_n
I'm trying to figure out how to request more nsize and vsize when using R CMD
check.

RINSTALL with doc clobbers function.html
In R 0.63 RINSTALL of a package with documentation still appears to clobber
R/doc/html/function.html and R/doc/html/packages.html so the main help is no
longer available to a user once a package is installed.
I know how to work around this for my own purposes, but I hesitate to release a
package that would do this to some unsuspecting user.

R-beta: Time Series Analysis
I have just downloaded rsept.zip and rseptbeta.zip for Windows 95 and I
think that is a GREAT product.
1st: I want to know the differences between them.
2nd: I'm interested very much in time series analysis, but watching the
html help there is not any function (for ex. like the S-Plus functions acf
pacf and arima functions etc). If there is some pacages to plug-in with
documentation

time series functions?
i can not seem to find any R functions on standard time
series analysis, e.g. exp. smoothing, ARIMA modeling.
are these available in a specific library. any help will
be gratefully appreciated.

time series analysis
Hello out there,
in their "R Complements" to Modern Applied Statistics W. Venables and
B. Ripley say that there is a lack of time series related functions in
R compared to S plus. Looking at CRAN I didn't find much, too. As I
have to learn something about +-basic ts analysis, e.g. spectral
analysis, I would like to know whether somebody has developed a
"unpublished" time

R 0.62.3 to be released soon
For the (slightly) adventurous among you:
We plan to roll out R 0.62.3 next Friday. In order to root out
remaining bugs before the release, I'd like to encourage you to try it
out on your system.
Since there is a risk of destabilising things whenever you mess with
the configure scripts, we won't attack installation problems on
unusual platforms after this week.
We also won't take

1.2.0 segfault
I'm a novice with gdb but the following is the result of a segfault problem I've been
having with 1.2.0. If there is something else I should do to get more useful
information at this point, then someone please let me know.

Bug in versioned install (was: (fwd) R-1.7.0 : Problem with Downloading "dse") (PR#2827)
The reason dse won't install is because of the new versioned install
code. It assumes that it's dealing with a plain package, and doesn't
handle bundles properly.
Robert, could you look at that?
A workaround is as follows. After the install.packages call fails
with this message

Memory profiling/benchmarking
Hi,
As a project for a computer performance analysis paper I am taking this semester,
I am going to look at the performance of the memory manager in R, with the aim of
determining how fast it is and which areas most need improvement. The idea is
that I will compare various versions of R, starting with 0.64.2, and then at a
few stages in the implementation of the new memory management scheme (of

state-space models and kalman filter
Hello again,
A different but related question to my last one:
Does anyone know if one can easily estimate state-space models
using ML and the kalman filter using R? I would be especially
interested in a relatively flexible function that would allow for
estimation
of hyperparameters, or could be made to do so.
Thanks

Handling of upper/lowercase in package names (PR#2816)
Hi,
This is (presumably?) a bug in R 1.7.0 under Windows. I have not tested it
on other systems. Attachment of packages is case sensitive but not
library(), resulting in multiple loadings of the same package if the library
name is spelled differently. The following example loads the `tools'
package, once as `tools' and once as `Tools'. This behavior is the same with
all packages and
