Hi, The loop I wrote executes correctly but is stalled seriously. Is there a way to hasten execution without coming up with a brand new algorithm ? please help. Thanks. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/stalled-loop-tf4451301.html#a12699524 Sent from the R help mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

LLVM docs links broken

I'd vaguely understood the old links had been deprecated for a while. Unfortunately they're still the top Google results when you search for the relevant classes, which is

Solutions to exercises in "Introductory Statistics with R" OR Intro. to R Book Suggestions with Solutions Available
Hi-- I'm trying to teach myself R using Peter Dalgaard's "Introductory Statistics with R." Does anyone know if there are solutions available for the exercises? I'm really just hoping to learn by going through exercises and checking myself, so alternatively, does anyone know of an introductory textbook to R that does have answers available either in the back or online?

Questions and suggestions about namespaces
I'm trying to add a namespace to my orientlib package. It makes use of S4 methods. A few questions, and a couple of suggestions: 1. Is there a way to put version dependency into the NAMESPACE file? I need to import something from stats in r-devel, but (of course) I get an error when using the same import directive in r-patched and earlier versions, because there is no stats package. 2.

Suggestions for R-intro manual (PR#10701)
Some suggestions for R-intro: -------------------------------------------------- Section 9.2.2, change: (Note the function split() which produces a list of vectors obtained by splitting a larger vector according to the classes specified by a factor. This is a useful function, mostly used in connection with boxplots. See the help facility for further details.) Warning: for() loops are used in

[LLVMdev] IMPORTANT: llvm-ar requirements
Ignore this at your own peril. I have committed changes to CVS that introduce a fully functional llvm-ar tool, and a new lib/Linker library that uses the archive's symbol table to hasten linking. However, this implies that archives read by the LLVM tools *must* have an LLVM symbol table in them. This happens automatically for the crtend.a library, but not for the runtime libraries produced by

R-2.6.0 package check problems
Hello One of my packages, untb_1.3-2, passes R CMD check under MacOSX (and apparently the systems used in the package check summary page on CRAN) but fails with the following message on R-2.6.0.tgz compiled last night on my (home) linux box. I hasten to add that I have never seen this error before on home-compiled pre-releases of R-2.6.0. Can anyone help me understand what is going on?

[LLVMdev] IMPORTANT: llvm-ar requirements
I forgot to mention .. This is a temporary requirement. I am working on changes so that an archive file that doesn't have a symbol table can be linked successfully, albeit a LOT slower. Reid. yum-3.2.8 for Centos 4 backport, part II.
Hi, I have again worked on yum 3.2.8 for Centos 4 today, after a long time. The result is backported package yum-3.2.8-9.el4.hrb.2.1.5 which is the upgrade of yum-3.2.8-9.el4.hrb.2.1.3 I've been using smoothly for quite a long time. Packages are in testing repos: http://fs12.vsb.cz/hrb33/el4/hrb/testing/i386/repodata/ http://fs12.vsb.cz/hrb33/el4/hrb/testing/x86_64/repodata/ I'd like to

rsync and cygwin part II
OK, I had emailed yesterday about an issue backing up a W2K machine using rsync under Cygwin. I was having trouble backing up the root directory, and I'm happy to say that the suggestion of using /cygdrive/c seems to have worked! Unfortunately, now I'm getting another error. The error is this: Invalid file index <some number> (count=<some number>) rsync error: protocol

Part II Re: read.ssd {foreign} (Reading a permanent SAS d ataset into an R data frame)
Scot, Thanks for the info. I will try your code out to verify the result, but before I do that, will your code (SAS and R) work with variable names that are longer than 8 characters long without truncating the variable name in R? Also, I wonder about using your method or the PROC EXPORT method with larger data sets. The data sets I will be working with for the most part will not be that large,

Strange error (Part II)

very confusing problem, part II
Samba Users: Here's a summary for several responses I have received since my original posting yesterday. Thanks for your help. Jan Kratochvil had a suggestion on running 'tcpdump' obtained from the Samba site. I did this for the station having difficulty, and the program core-dumped. From reading the resulting output created, that data starts to transfer and then becomes 0000 values.
