Manova in R vs. SAS
While I was helping a SAS-using friend with an analysis I noticed some differences in the multivariate test statistics, approximate F statistics, and p-values in the manova function using R and proc GLM using SAS. The univariate coefficients are identical. Is there a reason to expect R and SAS to give different results? Thanks, Bill Kristan.

Arrow keys don't work in R
Hi, Besides the problem with gnome, I have now a compiled version of R-1.4.0 that has the same functionality than what I had from an rpm installation, except that the arrow keys (so useful to recover history and edit lines) write garbage like: ^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A The keys work fine in both kde and xterm windows outside R. I suspect this might be something to specify in one of the Renviron files,

command history under cursor keys
g'day R friends, I was hoping someone could provide me with advice as to my dysfunctional 'arrow' keys. Instead of browsing thru my command history they just move my cursor. What have I done wrong? My TERM seems ok for other unix apps. I'm running under hpux 10.20 with R1.0.0 thanks, John Strumila -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

problem with up arrow
Hi, I just compiled R on solaris. Everything seems to run fine. Except, the up and down arrows don't take me through the history. Arrow movements in R
Hello: I apologize for asking this question again. I recently upgraded to R-1.9.1 but now the arrow keys do not scroll up and down the command lines in R. Instead I get ^[[A My SuSe 9 platform is missing some program. What is it? Thanks, ANDREW

hitting ^C breaks readline history (PR#1606)
Full_Name: Cyril Humbert Version: 1.5.0 OS: linux Submission from: (NULL) (193.50.159.2) Hitting ^C breaks readline history (when R is stared in an xterm). xterm -e R ^C -> arrow key and history stop working. For example, up-arrow gives "^[[A". ldd ./R.bin [../..] libreadline.so.4.1 => /usr/lib/libreadline.so.4.1 (0x40020000) libncurses.so.5 =>

xvm-gate: arrow keys broken in pygrub
One of my test domUs is a opensuse 10.3 PV domain, and it has a /boot/grub/menu.lst file. pygrub is used as bootloader. With xVM 3.1.4, the arrow keys can be used in the pygrub screen. With xVM 3.3-unstable, the arrow keys don''t work for me any more. What I''ve found out so far is that: - gnome-terminal, xterm or dtterm are running with "vt100 application key

Command History (PR#1310)
Greetings, I don't know if this is a bug or something I did wrong. The symptom is that my command history is now broken. For example, the up arrow now results in ^[OA each time it is depressed. The build commands I used were as follows: cp R-1.4.1.tgz /usr/lib/R cd /usr/lib/R tar -xvvzf R-1.4.1.tgz cd R-1.4.1 ./configure make make check # No errors resulted make dvi make pdf make info

Another question about getting command history
Hello everyone, Thanks to the people who so kindly responded to my earlier query about how to get R to retrieve my previous command when I hit the up-arrow key. Several people pointed out to me that in order to enable this feature I need to re-install R with the GNU readline library. My question now is: how do I accomplish this? Can anyone tell me what changes I need to make to the

Command-line history not working...
I am trying to build [R] v1.3.1 *locally* on a Sun Solaris 8 machine. One problem I am currently struggeling with is to make the command-line history function to work. I have installed GNU readline version 4.2 (latest version). Looking at the "config.log" file it seems that all readline related checks, e.g. "readline/history.h", passes (they did not before installing GNU

arrow keys on Linux-PPC
Hi, I've recently compiled and installed R-1.1.1 on linux-PPC. Everything is working well except for my arrow keys. The arrow keys neither give command history nor move the cursor. The readline and history devel-pacakges are installed and R found them; I think the problem is more likely in key-mapping. The arrow keys do work in other programs. Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

get command history?
Hello, We are using R 1.4.1 on Solaris 8. The director of our lab says that it should be possible, when using R interactively, to repeat your previous command by pressing the up-arrow key (similar to the command history feature in the tc shell). I have not been able to find any mention of this command history feature in any of the R documentation, but the lab director is adamant that this

Command-line editing & history
Hi all, Are there any plans to add more functionality to command-line editing and history editing on the command line? In MATLAB (I know, comparisons are odious ...), you can type "p" and up-arrow on the command line and scroll through the recently entered commands beginning with "p". This is a very useful feature and something that I believe is not replicated in R. Please

Pointing to a specific place on the x-axis with an arrow
Hi all, I am trying to do something simple, but which is deviling me. I want to add an up-arrow to the x-axis, pointing to a specific location on the axis. I want the arrow to be as large as possible. Here is where I'm at with my code: #this part if from the ?plot example: require(stats) plot(cars) lines(lowess(cars)) #I am trying to use mtext to add the arrow... but I don't know how

arrow egdes and lty
Dear R developers, I want to draw an arrow in a figure with lty=2. The lty argument also affects the edge of the arrow, which is unfortunate. Feature or bug? Is there some way to draw an arrow with intact edge, still with lty=2? Example code: plot(1:10) arrows(4, 5, 6, 7, lty=2) Best wishes, Matthias --

Adding Two-Headed Arrow in map legend
Hi Milu, My fault here. As I don't have the data to make the map and try out my suggestions I mixed up the x and y coordinates. Try this: par(xpd=TRUE) arrows(-19.75966,53,33.60000,53,code=3) par(xpd=FALSE) Jim On Tue, Apr 12, 2016 at 10:11 PM, Miluji Sb <milujisb at gmail.com> wrote: > Hello Jim, > > Thanks again. Adding Two-Headed Arrow in map legend
Hello Jim, Thanks again. I am getting the two-headed arrow but I cannot seem to get the coordinates right for the arrow to appear beneath the map. These coordinates puts the arrow on the left hand side. Thanks again! Arrow key feature request
Since keystrokes were brought up, this seems like a reasonable time to make the following seemingly simple-to-implement feature request: Navigating a multi-level menu structure seems to require use of UP/DOWN/ENTER/ESC. It would be easier to quickly search/navigate if it could be done with fingers stationed on the arrow keys so that the eyes can stay focused on the screen. Current
