Re: [Omega-devel] StatDataML
Hi, I just had a very quick look at the StatDataML proposal --- nice work! At the risk of showing my ignorance, I want to mention my first impressions. My first impression is that defining datasets in terms of arrays and list is a bit too high a level. What about simpler vectors, scalars? (I know that R/S don't have scalars, but other systems/applications do.) Can we think of a core

StatDataML
Hi, we have a first draft of R functions reading/writing data to XML files including a rather general DTD ... which borrows heavily from the data types of a certain programming language :-) The basic idea is to create an XML standard for data exchange, together with import/export functions for as many applications as possible. We here will need R, Matlab & Octave for our research program,

I'm unable to download R from any of the CRAN mirrors. A ny sugge (PR#7823)
Friedrich, Thank you for your prompt response. Unfortunately, none of the CRAN mirrors seem to be working for me. I'm not really sure what's going on since I was able to download R about a year ago, but I recently got a new computer and needed to download it again. I'll see if my support staff here at the National Institutes of Health have any suggestions. Thanks again, Eric

new version of e1071 on CRAN
A new version of e1071 has been released to CRAN which should be much easier to install on a lot of platforms because reading/writing PNM images has been moved to the pixmap package, hence there are no longer dependencies on external libraries and no configure mechanism. For the authors, Fritz Leisch ********************************************************** Changes in Version 1.2-0: o

``R Links'' Collection on CRAN
Hi, on suggestion by Robert Gentleman we want to add a ``Other R-related sites'' collection of links to CRAN, where we give pointers to non-CRAN sites that might be of interest to R users. E.g., this could be pages in some language other than English supporting the respective user community or ... If you think your site could appear in such a collection, please send email to me and I

Mailing List Archives
The HTML Mailing List Archives at www.R-project.org should now get online updates, i.e., each mail is integrated into the archives directly after it has been sent to the list. Hence, searching in the subjects of mails can easily be done using your web browser's search function. A more powerful search engine (which also searches the bodies of the emails) will hopefully be added soon. Best,

R News: Call for Papers
R News (see http://CRAN.R-project.org/doc/Rnews/) is running low on submissions lately. If you are the author of a package on CRAN or Bioconductor and want to attract a larger audience to your software, you should consider writing a short article introducing the package.
