R 1.1.0 dev.print()
Hi, I just upgraded to 1.1.0 from 1.0.1 this morning on my OSF/1 machine. I now have problems with the following code: %E /tmp 43% R --vanilla Version 1.1.0 (June 15, 2000) ... > test2 <- function () { plot(runif(30)) ofile <- "/tmp/newfile.ps" dev.print(file = ofile) } + + + + + > > test2() Error in device(...) : Object "ofile" not found However, if

Setting fontsize in dev.copy2eps
I have a figure on screen with a legend. I want to copy this image to EPS, and use: dev.copy2eps(file="file1.eps", width=5, height=5) The legend that looks OK on screen doesn't look OK in the PostScript image: the text extends out of the box. I try adding a fontsize command: dev.copy2eps(file="file1.eps", width=5, height=5, pointsize=5) This options seems to

dev.copy2eps: position of figure on page
The definition for dev.copy2eps contains the following line: oc$paper <- "special" The result of this is that the output will be placed in the left bottom corner of the page. Even though dev.copy2eps is meant for creating files that are to be included into other documents, you might want to print the figure directly, just to see how it will look on paper. (Of course, this will

dev.copy2eps() problem
Hello experts! I've tried to make single plot, but with changed ticks length, and then copy them to file by dev.copy2eps(). Here is the code: x11 ( , 5, 5) par (tcl = +5) plot (0) # wow! I see the ugly plot with great # ticks on the graph viewport! cool :) dev.copy2eps (file = "out.eps") Well, I had a look at "out.ps" and ..

dev.copy2eps: Why did the colors come into my postscript output?
On a RedHat 7.3 system with R-1.6.1, I did this > x11(width=3.5,height=4,colortype="gray") Then plotted (with matplot) a nice looking no-color graph on the screen, then I did this: > dev.copy2eps(file="test.eps",height=4,width=3.5) I was surprised that the output in the eps file included the colored lines from the plot, even though the screen device was set to

R-alpha: Re: .Options$digits do not (always) work
While trying to understand official and private explanations of Robert and Martin before writing something useful in the FAQ, I did some more experimenting ... Please have a look at the following. According to Martin, this is also what he observed about 2 weeks ago but did not document exactly enough when posting. Note: the explanation given by Robert was (roughly speaking) that the result of

Minor "bug" in source()
For R v2.1.1 patched and R v2.2.0 devel: Calling source(file, chdir=TRUE) with is.character(file) != TRUE, that is, with 'file' as a connection, will generate an error. Example: > file <- textConnection("cat('Hello world\n')") > source(file, chdir=TRUE) Error in source(file, chdir = TRUE) : Object "ofile" not found Of course, it does not make

unexpected postscript output with par(mfg)
Hi, a colleague of mine encountered some unexpected behavior regarding the postscript output from R. It's difficult for me to tell whether or not this is an R problem or a ghostview/gv/interpreter problem. Just to note, I think it's exactly the same situation reported here: http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02/archive/25436.html The following code produces a working plot (no

[PATCH 5/5] mllib: add a new run_command helper
Add a simple helper to run a command from a sequence of arguments, without using a shell: this should help reducing the amount of quoting ineeded, since arguments are passed straight as such. Make use of it in the places currently using shell_command, and which don't assume they can run anything (so no shell redirections, `env`, etc). --- builder/builder.ml | 62

Calculating subsets "on the fly" with ddply
Hi, [I sent this to the plyr mailing list (late) last night, but it seems to be lost in the moderation queue, so here's a shot to the broadeR community] Apologies in advance for being more verbose than necessary, but I'm not even sure how to ask this question in the context of plyr, so ... here goes. As meaningless as this might be to do with the `iris` data, the spirit of it is what

[PATCH] test_compression.sh
* Use `mktemp` instead of playing with date(1). * Use -f instead of removing the file every time. * "echo ERROR; exit 1" is what die() is for. * Some cosmetic renamings ('k' to 'comp' for compression etc). * Remove the MacOSX comment. It's not MacOSX specific, and it's not a problem anyway. The number behaves just right. * Remove the $((${size}+10)). It's

SIP Re-Invite behind a NAT
SetUp: - Asterisk behind a NAT, - Red Hat 9.0 - Asterisk 1.2.14 My Asterisk box is behind a NAT and I have a DiD from an ITSP. I have my dial plan set up so that when outside callers dial the DiD, the call is answered by my auto-attendant. The caller can then select who they'd like to speak to and the call is transferred to the external line associated with that person (usually a mobile
