R CMD check (PR#982)
In revising the splancs package, I use R CMD check. After a number of
changes to various files in the directory tree, R CMD check fails at the
* checking for undocumented objects ... ERROR
stage as shown below. But running undoc() in R (pointed at the Rcheck
directory, not on the older version) doesn't show the same error, and grep
on the Rcheck R code finds the function. I ran undoc() under

R CMD build
I've been trying "R CMD build" to build my packages because of the
various nice checks it does. Here are some questions/comments/problems.
1/ I get a WARNING about RD files without alias for (what seems like)
all my Rd files. I'm not sure if this is related to the fact that all my
functions are in one .R file.
2/ I get a warning about undocumented objects for all the specific

R CMD check
I am unclear on whether to run R CMD check pgkname as user or as root on Linux. When running as user, after all the latex, html, and man files are created, I get the following error message:
Rdconv(): Couldn't open '': Permission denied
Has anyone dealt with that message?
When I run R CMD check a second time, all latex, html, etc. are recreated which takes quite a while. Is there

R CMD check, undoc and package checking
As cool and wonderful as the package checking tools for R are, I sometimes am
stymied when trying to track down a problem. For example, I occasionally see
error messages when running R CMD check like the following:
[...]
* checking Rd files ... OK
* checking for undocumented objects ... ERROR
* in parse(file, n, text, prompt) : syntax error on line 932
* in undoc(dir =

Hi, I am trying to use xgobi with R on a windows XP machine. I downloaded the package, which seems to have worked and started on the tutorial supplied. The command
data(laser)
works fine
but the command
xgobi(laser)
returns

Seemingly bizarre behavior in R CMD check
Maybe someone can help shed some light on an odd and repeatedly irritating
error I noticed when running the check Perl script on my R 1.3 project. In
following it line by line, I traced my problem down to the
code/documentation matching within check, the most recent version of which
seems to verify proper .Rd formatting by means of R's codoc and undoc
functions. Under R --vanilla, those two

3d in R
Dear R-users and R-developpers,
I've not been able to find 3d graphics in R, like
Splus spin() or brush(). Are there any that I've missed
and/or is anybody working on implementing these
type of functions?
Thanks

Xgobi
I have been trying to get Xgobi to work with the function xgobi( ), but
I keep on getting the message ""Xgobi requires a filename or some data

I wished it could be a GUI frontend for R on Unix.

x-server
Dear all,
first, I would like to thank R-core team for making so a great
software available. Thank you all, really!
Using R (1.0.0) on a Win98 platform, I need an x-server to run
xgobi (through R xgobi interface). I've been using a MI/X server but
trying to upgrade I noticed that MI/X is no longer available for free.
Similarly, eXceed is available at evaluation version (for a limited

RH and packages
Dear colleagues,
I just upgraded to 1.4.0 version from RH RPM on a RH72 linux i686
machine. Maybe I am the only one, but when I tried then to install 2
packages (namely pspline and xgobi), weird things happened.
First on call of library(xgobi) or library(help=xgobi), all looks
good, but on call of ?xgobi, or data(PaulKAI), or when trying to look
at html help, the package seems empty. More

Xgobi
Dear helpers,
I'm working with expression matrices (DNA microarrays) and my
professor suggested me to investigate the possibilities of
Xgobi. Searching the net I found that I could use it with R. Is
that true?
How can I do this? I'm working on a Windows ME notebook. I've
already got xgobi.zip from CRAN and xgobi.zip from Professor

3D graphics with R
Is there any graphical frontend/secondary programm (freely availible for
Windowsor Linux) which can be used with R to display the results of a
principle component analysis in 3D space (rotatable!?)? It works with
Spotfire, but is there any freely or cheaply availible programm?

3d images
Hi,
The screenshots page of the R-project contains nice 3d images: "3d plot
of a surface" and "image and 3d plot of a volcano".
What packages were used to generate these images?
Or
What packages have 3d plotting capabilities?
thanks

What is XGobi and what is it for?
I've seen XGobi come up in here from time to time, and I wonder what is
it, what is it for, do I need it? How about throwing me a bone here!

(Fwd) Re: 3d in R
In Win95/NT you can use xgobi (program and R interface) as well,
provided you will install an x-server on your machine (a free one is
available from http://www.microimages.com/freestuf/mix/).
Regards!

Xgobi II
Hi again.
Thank you for the tips but I don't know what is a X server. I
remember that I?m working with my own notebook. Is this
possible? I could also try to run it in my faculty.
thanks
