Hi!
Attached is the current version of my image organizing program.
If you dbl-click on a thumbnail, it will show the image (1:1 zoom) in a
dialog, and eat some memory....

RubyGems and wxRuby
Kevin, were you planning to do a linux tarball or RPM for 0.3 before
focusing on the SWIG version? I think its important for many obvious
reasons, but I''ll just mention the one that prompted me to write this email.
In the long term, I''d like to see wxRuby become the standard GUI toolkit for
ruby, and I am simultaneously working several fronts to help make that
happen. My

Hi, all.
I''m happy to introduce to you "Ruby Browser for wxRuby" ported from
Ruby-GNOME2 project.
I hope this tool will be very useful for wxRuby users.
You can download it at my website:

Any chance of incrementing the ol'' version number a bit more
aggressively? Doing so could really help wxRuby adoption if done right:

wxRuby Windows installer available for testing
I have a first cut of a windows installer for wxRuby available for testing.
It can be downloaded with this URL:
http://curthibbs.us/wxruby-mswin-0.2_debug.zip
This installer currently assumes that you have installed Ruby from Andy
Hunt''s one-click Ruby Installer for Windows, *and* that you have installed
it in the default directory (C:\ruby). I still need to figure out how to

Updated - wxRuby Windows installer available for
Curt,
I just downloaded and tried your installer and the installation went fine. There are problems with the samples not finding their images files, but only when I try to run the samples from their Start menu shortcuts. When I edit the properties of a shortcut, and change the "Start in" folder to match the folder where the sample resides, then the problems go away. (As-installed,

Ruby IDE with wxRuby
Hello All,
There seems to have been a lot of interest in getting wxScintilla
incorperated, and I think most of us who want it, want it so we can
create an editor, so to avoid multiple projects comming out with the
same goal (Not really that bad of a problem....), I''m going to kick
start this, and ask that anyone interested in developing a Editor with
wxRuby and wxScintilla, to send

Windows readme and last patch
Kevin,
I have attached a readme file for windows, and a patch file for extconf.rb
(I slightly tweaked my settings).
Tomorrow night I will work in the windows installer. For the this first cut
I will do the installer packaging by hand. But for the future release I want
to fully script the installer packaging and check the script and installer
in to cvs.

Best debugger for Rails on Linux
A quick survey... what''s the best gui debugging tool for Rails 1.0 on
Linux that you''ve used? SW versions?
Personally I''ve tried FreeRIDE 0.95 and RDT 0.7.0 in Eclipse 3.1.2. Both
are very slow and the latter got quite a few bugs itself.
TIA!

Another Updated - wxRuby Windows installeravailable for
Hmm everything installed fine but when I try to run the samples I get an
error dialog stating:
"rubyw.exe - unable to Locate Component
This application has failed to start because MSVCRTD.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
Which unless you are supplying the debug microsoft dll''s, re-installing
will have no effect :)

picture organizer -- need a bit of help
While trying to develop a little wxruby program, I have some
difficulties, namely:
1. I want to read all kind of graphic files, (mainly jpg, png and tiff
is enough...) But, the current implementation seems to deal only with
bmps and currently there is no way to call ::wxInitAllImageHandlers.
2. I think DnD is required in my case: I want to drop filenames on a
TreeCtrl. I will try to add

wxruby-swig on Windows & possible release
I''m trying to build wxruby-swig on windows with the idea of building a
windows installer for it. I think that this would go a long way toward
encouraging windows developers to try out wxruby-swig. What do you think?
Are we far enough along to contemplate a release?
Building wxruby-swig on windows is actually going pretty smoothly, but I
want to build it with vc++ 7.1 to match the

Are we going to do q wxRuby 0.5.0 release?
I''m just trying to plan out my week, and I wanted to see how everyone felt
about a 0.5.0 release of wxRuby (not wxruby-swig).
Are we ready for this? If not, what remains to be done?

GenericDirCtrl
A little patch to add Wx::GenericDirCtrl. A non-native control (on OS X
at least) but maybe useful to someone. I have tested it but think it
should just be added to controls.rb sample - will do later when i have
fixed some other probs with that.
Also, I''ve started putting class-specifc style constants in the relevant
.i file, as discussed previosuly - will submit a patch doing this

wxruby.so size under Linux?
Today, I noticed that a completely clean build of wxRuby on my desktop
machine is about 5.8 megs, but on my laptop is about 9.8 megs.
Both computers are running Debian GNU/Linux, but my laptop is more of a
mix of releases, whereas my desktop is almost entirely Sarge/Testing.
Both are using gcc 3.3.3. In both cases, I did a full "get", and did a
make from scratch.
Any ideas about

Windows compilation problems
Last week I was struggling to get xrc built into wxRuby and finally got
it to compile. The problem I am now having is that the normal samples
are not working at all (have not even tried any xrc stuff yet). So to
test if it is a problem with xrc or my build process I tried compiling
wxRuby without XRC, this caused the same error to be printed out as the
failed XRC build.
The output (in both

find_window_by_xxx doesn''t find Gauge or BitmapButton
I''m fairly new to the Ruby world, particularly WxRuby, so please
forgive me if this is ground that''s been covered in the past. I''m
trying to load a frame from an XRC file (created using DialogBlocks),
and I''m having trouble getting an instance of the Gauge object using
the Wx::Window.find_window_by_xxx methods. I''m trying this on Windows

HTML Widget
Hi,
I''m pretty new to WxRuby, but I think it is the ideal solution to write
Ruby-applications for different platforms. I missed the wxHtmlWindow in
WxRuby, so I added it myself. You can grab the new files from
http://portfolio16.de/tmp/wxruby-html.tar.gz. This archive contains all
files I added to the wxruby-directory. These are mostly the *.t files
for the missing classes and some
