Re: Question about wxMenuBar
I received this question off-list, but thought it would be interesting
to everyone.

wxruby-swig 0.0.13 is up
This fixes the wxRED Mac link error. Thanks to Nick for pointing out
that I hadn''t removed some wxRED code related to an earlier experiment.
Hopefully this one will build on Mac, end-to-end.
I also found and fixed a problem that was causing the crash on exit:
wxWindows automatically deletes the C++ app object as soon as the last
frame is closed. Later, when ruby garbage collected the

README.mingw32
Hello to all!
Since nobody replied and expressed desire to take over README.mingw32, I
wrote short instructions how to build wxruby with MinGW compiler in MSYS
environment.
Considering that wxruby can be of interest to some Ruby users not so
familiar with C++ and/or wxWindows (I''m one of them :-), I included some
notes on installing MinGW & MSYS, building wxWindows library, Ruby ..

Re: ANN: wxRuby 0.1.0 Alpha has been released!
I''m not a Linux user. I suggest you subscribe to the wxRuby ML and get
advice there from other Linux users. For the time being, I''ll cross-post
this message to the wxRuby ML.

Whoo Hoo! I got a working Windows Build of wxRuby
I finally got a working native windows build of wxRuby (using a static build
of wxWindows so everything is in a single dll -- wxruby.so)!
Two things contributed to my success: 1) building wxWindows with the vc++
makefiles (instead of the vc++ projects), and 2) very careful attention to
compiler/linker flags specified in extconf.rb.
Kevin, I had to modify app.cpp, depend, extconf.rb, and wx.h. I

wxRuby is now linked from the wxWindows site
I sent a message to Julian (the primary author of wxWindows), and he
immediately added wxRuby to the list of "Related Projects" on the
"Community" page of the wxWindows site:
http://wxwindows.org/
Thanks to Gour for suggesting this.
We are also listed in the Ruby RAA, under Library, GUI.
If anyone knows of other places we should be linked, let me know. Or
better yet,

wxXRC library
Hi,
I started developing with wxRuby with the 0.1.0 release, and have been very
pleased. As a ruby and wxWindows fan, I was happy to see the wxruby
project, and have been very impresed with the implementation.
I''ve been working on supporting the XML resources (wxXRC), and have an
issue I''d like some advice on. XRC plugged in very nicely, and I was able
to query resources.

Menu Bar KeyBoard Shortcuts.
Hello,
I''m trying to use a wxMenuBar from XRC built with DialogBlocks on Windows.
My first example had the menu being called from the Frame because I couldn''t figure out
how to call the menu from my XRC. Shortcuts worked nicely.
Example 1:
menu.append(Wx::ID_EXIT, "E&xit\tAlt-X", "Quit this program")
tool.append(Wx::ID_PHOTO, "&MS Picture

some wxruby questions
so I''ve been using wxruby for a bit, and I have some questions. Before
I start, I do want to say, that I am really liking wxruby, these
questions are a result if really putting it through it''s paces.
1) how do you assign accelerator keys?
this kind of works if I add a menu item like "&New\tCtrl-N", but this
only works for commands in the menu, and for some

Building wxruby-swig for Mac
0.0.5 sure gets the Mac build a lot further.
There''s a bug in the wxMac-2.4.2 distribution that I''m running into:
wx-config wants to invoke a program in the source directory at link
time. That''s ugly in itself, but it tries to use a variable
${top_srcdir} to accomplish this, and it''s apparently empty. It tries
to invoke

Re: Problem building wxRuby: htmlproc.h not found
Hi,
Has this problem been resolved?
I encountered the same problem on my FC3 system with wxGTK-2.4.2 and
wxruby-0.6.
Thanks.

Building wxruby on Solaris 9
Hi all,
Ruby 1.8.1
Solaris 9
wxwindows 2.4.2 (package from blastwave.org)
wxruby 0.3.0
I''m having trouble getting this sucker to build on my Solaris box.
Here''s how I''m building:
ruby extconf.rb --with-xrc-dir=/opt/csw
--with-xrc-include=/opt/csw/lib/wx
The include directive I added because the setup.h file is there (for
whatever reason). And yes, /opt/csw/bin and

Compiling wxRuby 0.6 with Borland C++ Compiler
I''m trying to recompile wxRuby 0.6 using Borland''s C++ Compiler
(version 5.5.1).
So far I was able to do the following:
1) Recompile a working version of ruby V1.8.1 executable using bcc32
2) Recompile a working version of wxWindows 2.4.2 using bcc32
However for wxruby, I''m having some problems with the Makefile which I
fixed.
Now when I''m compiling the

Windows Build - Down to Run Time Errors
I finally got a clean compile and link for wxRuby. Now I''m down to
deciphering runtime errors. Once again, I''m going to pick up on this
tomorrow, but I thought I''d post my console output tonight to see if anyone
has any thoughts before I tackle this tomorrow.
I''m running the same app "minimal.rb"

FileDialog.i patch
Here''s a patch for FileDialog.i. Seems we had never removed that #ifdef
in there.
wxWindows 2.6.2 works just fine on Windows. No other news.

wxWindows 2.4.2
My system just upgraded itself to wxGtk 2.4.2. I re-built everything,
and had no compile errors. The minimal sample worked fine. I haven''t had
a chance to do more testing.
But, it appears that wxruby is compatible with wxWindows 2.4.2.

Learning sources
When i decide to create a GUI for my desktop "Ruby" application, i have
been stucked about wxruby.
Then i have looked at wxwindows and wxwidgets sources but the syntax was
not so familiar to me. Because the examples were written in C++
generally.
For understanding main concept this experience was good for me.
Later, for more familiar syntax i have looked at wxphyton sources and i
