wxruby2 release goals
Greetings all, The recent ruby-talk posting about wx (cross-posted here by Curt) made it clear that we need to release some code soon, to present a public image of moving forward. Thus, my first goal is to release a "preview" version of wxruby2 as soon as we have a version that builds and can run the minimal sample on all three major platforms (Linux, MS Win, Mac OSX). This would

wxruby2 alpha release goals
Hi We''re all keen to get a release out, for lots of reasons: getting more people testing, showing people the progress we''ve made, etc. So I suggest that we now look to release an alpha version very soon, based pretty much on the current state of CVS plus pending check-ins. Sure, it has some bugs, some missing features and segfaults occasionally - but my experience on OS X

Bad gemspec for rspec-core
I receive this message when bundling using this example project: http://github.com/francois/rental_agency/tree/1ea252624e161ddc305a719d505a633d8d464e49 The included Gemfile references HEAD of rspec-core, and the gemspec there has this issue: Using rspec-core (2.0.0.beta.19) from git://github.com/rspec/rspec-core.git (at master) rspec-core at /Users/francois/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-rc2/bundler/gems/

Compiling WxRuby2 on Ubuntu 6.06
Hi All, I am trying to compile WxRuby on Ubuntu 6.06. I checked out the latest source code from CVS and ran ''rake'' under the wxruby2 directory. I am getting the following error. root@imayam:/work/wxruby/wxruby2# rake (in /work/wxruby/wxruby2) rake aborted! Don''t know how to build task ''src/App.cpp'' (See full trace by running task with --trace) I am

Build gem from .gemspec to store locally
I am getting the error uninitialized constant for the vestal_versions gem when I build it from a gemspec file and install it. I need to store gems locally at a client site. I am using bundle package for most of my gems but the vestal_versions gem comes from a git repository and I can not included in the gems stored in vendor/ cache. I am new to building a gem from a gemspec file. What do I need

Attempt to build a gemspec
Hi all, I''m trying to build a gemspec for win32-ipc, using a precompiled binary. Here''s my gemspec file: #win32-ipc.gemspec require "rubygems" spec = Gem::Specification.new do |s| s.name = "win32-ipc" s.version = "0.3.1" s.platform = Gem::Platform::WIN32 s.summary = "A base class for Win32 synchronization objects."

wxruby2 alpha status
Hi all, How soon can we do our alpha (binary gem) release? 1. I would like to get the samples working a bit better, but am ok simply documenting most of the current problems. Do the samples crash every few minutes for other people? Or is it just me? I would like to have a copyright/license comment at the top of every sample file before the alpha release. 2. I would like to receive and merge a

gem version numbering
Hi all, I am concerned about the version number for our gem. Currently, we have it set to 1.9, indicating that it is "before the upcoming 2.0 release". However, there is nothing in the version number that indicates this is a "preview" "alpha" "buggy" release. The gem version numbering scheme does not allow things like 2.0-pre. It also requires each public

.specification or .gemspec?
Hi, I am currently working on Heroku (herokugarden.com) and pushing to the Heroku Git repo from my local computer. I am also installing gems on local. When I install gems locally, they generate .gemspec files in a specification/ folder. However, when I push through to Heroku, it tells me that I''m missing a .specification file for that gem and that I should run ''rake

Using RichEdit 2 or 3 control
WxRuby1 only defines the constant for RichEdit 1.0. From reading MSDN, features of the 2.0 or 3.0 version of this control are superior. I found the constant that enables use of the later version in the style parameter of the constructor: TE_RICH2 = 32768 I think RichEdit2 or 3 is automatically used depending on what is available in the Windows installation. Hope this tip helps others. Jamal

wxRuby-0.6.0, wxRuby2, SWIG and....
Hi, my first post here so a little background first... I started out using wxRuby-0.6.0 about 4 months ago while trying to get a grip on Ruby as a means of writing a little budgetting app I''ve been meaning to write for a couple of years. As I didn''t like the way that the wxruby examples are coded (having to punch the individual C++ api methods that way isn''t nice) I

Wx::Window#get_text_extent patch
Here''s a patch to fix Wx::Window#get_text_extent - it requires that the patches from teh last message are applied, to enable *INPUT etc typemaps. Roy - though the function works correctly when called from Ruby, it still causes a crash when called internally when clicking on a Wx::Grid cell. Saw your message on SWIG mailing list, hopefully someone there can help out. alex

Plans to rename wxruby-swig to wxruby2
Greetings all, Over the last few months, while I have been busy on other projects, Nick and other folks have built wxruby-swig up to where it now supports about 120 classes, compared to the 139 in wxruby 0.6. When you include the fact that wxruby 0.6 had a few classes that really weren''t needed (because non-wx ruby versions work fine), it looks like wxruby-swig is actually very

Patch files to implement AcceptFocus
These files add the virtual function AcceptFocus that was missing from wxWindow.h. In order to make things right I had to make sure it was also declared in all the places where wxWindows also changes it. Also, in wxTextCtrl on Windows GetDefaultAttributes needs to be redeclared. I haven''t downloaded the Unix and Mac headers for 2.6.3 so I couldn''t see if it also applies

Splitting wxRuby2.so into multiple libraries
Hey Alex and fellow developers, I figured I''d split this off into a seperate discussion, to get an idea of what to look at with this. Ofcourse, with every first step, there needs to be some kind of outline set forth to split up wxRuby2 into multiple libraries, to ensure coherance amongst the developers, and future development, so people will know, this goes to this, this goes to

wxruby2 beta 1.9.0 released
Hi I''m pleased to announce the release of wxruby2 version 1.9.0. This is a significant milestone for wxruby as this is the first release that we consider near to production quality. We hope that this 1.9.x series of releases will soon lead to a stable wxruby 2.0. = INSTALLATION The easiest way to install is using a ready-to-use binary gem for your platform: gem install wxruby Or

ListItem patches
Hi Attached, patches to implement ListItem. This class, in wxruby 0.6.0, allows styling of individual items in a ListCtrl, via a particularly clunky API. In disambiguating the overloaded ListCtrl#set_item method it introduces one non backwards-compatible change. I''ve followed the WxPython convention as described in the Wx class ref, renaming set_item(index, col, string, imageid) to
