no visible binding for global variable for data sets in a package
I'm updating the Lahman package of baseball statistics to the 2013
release. In addition to
the main data sets, the package also contains several convenience
functions that make use
of these data sets. These now trigger the notes below from R CMD check
run with
Win builder, R-devel. How can I avoid these?

Lahman Baseball Data Using R DBI Package
The double quotes are required by SQL if a name is not of the form
letter-followed-by-any-number-of-letters-or-numbers or if the name is a SQL
keyword like 'where' or 'select'. If you are doing this from a function,
you may as well quote all the names.

Lahman Baseball Data Using R DBI Package
I?m trying to pull data from one table (batting) in the Lahman Baseball database. Notice X2B for doubles and X3B for triples ? fourth and fifth from the right.
The dbGetQuery function runs fine when I leave there two out but I get error messages (in red) when I include 2B/3B or X2B/X3B.
Can anyone give me some direction?
Thanks,

Lahman Baseball Data Using R DBI Package
Hi Philip,
You've probably realized by now that R doesn't like column names that
start with a number. If you try to access an R-dataframe column named
2B or 3B with the familiar "$" notation, you'll get an error:

Lahman Baseball Data Using R DBI Package
This is really a feature of SQL, not R. SQL requires that you double quote
column names that start with numbers, include spaces, etc., or that are SQL
key words. E.g.,

Where=c("here","there","there"), From=c("me","me","you"))

Problemas con tinytex (base Latex)
Estimados erreros,
https://yihui.org/tinytex/). Sin embargo, al tratar de instalar me

Sweave, cm-lgc and minus signs
Hello,
since a couple of days I'm trying hard to elicit a certain thing
out of the Sweave function of R. Unfortunately I'm quite unsuccessful.
It's only about a small, ridiculous minus sign, which does not appear
in the final pdf of a latex file, if I try to incorporate the Computer-
Modern fonts into the plot. It seems, that R uses different encodings
for minus signs, which are put

Problemas con tinytex (base Latex)
Estimado Mauricio Mardones
Me llamo la atención su correo, desconocía lo que usted nombra, lo busque,
pero hay una diferencia, instala textlive en un lugar del disco (.appdata),
yo opino como Carlos Ortega.
La documentación dice:
# Windows
tlmgr path remove rd /s /q "%APPDATA%\TinyTeX"
Se instala en esa carpeta oculta.

Problemas con tinytex (base Latex)
Mira el error en este fichero que te indica:
* C:~\AppData\Local\MiKTeX\2.9\miktex\log\pdflatex.log*
Ahí vendrá en las últimas líneas el fallo que se ha producido.
Y con el mensaje de error específico busca si hay alguna referencia por ahí.
Entiendo que estás instalando la última versión que ha salido hace pocos
días...

https://ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pstricks/contrib/pst-barcode/
Hi,
https://ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pstricks/contrib/pst-barcode/
says that pst-barcode is included in texlive.
I installed texlive, and it can?t find pst-barcode.sty. Is that a
bug in the packaging Centos does, or is texlive in Centos some
derelict version?

Recent version of Latex
I've moved most of my user's PCs from OpenSuse (11.x, unmaintainend now) to
CentOS 6.4. On my old OpenSuse latex was "texlive-latex-2010" and current
version on CTAN is texlive-2013.
But on CentOS 6.4 I've only the old texlive-latex-2007 and several sty files
available on my previous config are not available now and users cannot compile
their previous documents.

Installing texlive dependencies
Hello ALL!
I am running Fedora 16 x86_64. Due to some dubious problems, that i
couldn't resolve, with the TeXLive (2007, which is a default), I removed
it. That removed R as well, and some other dependent packages. Then, I
installed TeXLive 2011 from CTAN. However, when I wanted to install R,
from Fedora's repositories, it asks for some TeX dependencies (for
example, tex-preview,

S latex listings
Hello,
I would like to insert S code to my latex document. I was looking for a
listings package that supports S. In www.r-project.or in the
software/other section there is an item with a link to latex package
listings, but it seems that the link is broken. Does anybody know an
alternative to get the package?
Thanks in advance,

Converting from encapsulated postscript to encapsulated pdf
I have several old encapsulated postscript graphics generated by R that
I want to include in a LaTeX Beamer presentation so I want them in pdf.
Under Ubuntu linux typing
convert z.eps z.pdf (to use ImageMagick)
results in a nice looking graphic but the bounding box is lost. Doing
convert z.eps z.epdf
results in a fuzzy image with a good bounding box.
Does anyone have a nice solution?

PDF fonts problem
Dear List,
I am writing a paper in Hungarian, that I Sweave and than pdfLaTeX.
Everything is fine, except for two accented letters in the graphs that
behave strange, though on the screen and in eps exports they look
perfect. The problem is that I need pdf graphs, since I would like to
have a PDF after LaTeX-ing.
For the example below I downloaded the following two font sets:

Can someone please have a look at this query on stackoverflow?
Dear Olivier,
Many thanks for your reply.
Very cool.
You know what I thought ? I thought you had modified the A4 sheet size
to compute the paperheight and paperwidth ?
I wonder if that's another way of proceeding.
Best,
Ashim
