breaks in hist()
I was using the hist() function to create a frequency table of some network traffic data. The range in values is rather large, from 0 till just under 10e12. Calling hist(x, breaks=c(0,1000,1e6,1e9,1e12),plot=F,freq=T) causes hist() to return : $breaks [1] -1.0000e+05 1.0100e+05 1.1000e+06 1.0001e+09 1.0000e+12 Is this recalculation of the breaks by hist() intended? histogram of frequencies (PR#861)
Full_Name: Dr. Bernd Winkler Version: 1.2.2 OS: Linux Submission from: (NULL) (194.59.179.176) Hi all, having updated to version 1.2.2 last week I experienced some strange behaviour of the hist function. I want to plot a histogram of frequencies resp. counts, for example poisson random numbers, on a predefined and fixed x scale > hist(rpois(500, 2), breaks=0:10) But instead of the

Patch for "last" providing incorrect information on Solaris 8
I have put together a simple set of diffs that corrects the problem described by Steven Fishback <sfishback at interpath.net> on 10-30 on this list regarding incorrect information reported by last on Solaris. The patches merely pass along the username in the utmpx record for a logout. Is there any reason why this would be a problem with other OSes? If not, maybe this could be rolled into the

Determining the break points by hist() leads to errors (PR#2432)
Hi, if I dermine the break points using the hist() function and then try to re-use these in a new histogram, R fails. Here is an example of the problem: ##First, plot a histogram: data(islands) foo <- hist(islands,freq=T) ##Now, try plot it again, with the previously determined break points: hist(islands,breaks=foo$breaks,freq=T) ##... this lead to the warning message: Warning message:

Autocompletion not working in Konqueror
I''ve just had a look again at the autocompletion demo that Thomas put up at http://script.aculo.us/demos/ajax/autocompleter Unfortunately, in Konqueror (3.4.1) it doesn''t work at all. Not even an error is triggered. It does work nicely in Firefox. How about Safari? I don''t have the time right now to track this down systematically (maybe latter), but just from

y axis on hist
Hi: The y axis on the hist function seems to set its limits oddly. sometimes, it covers the full range of the data and sometimes it stops one major tick short. I have had this behavior with a variety of data sets, and it can easily be reproduced by just running the following several times: hist(rnorm(100000)) I have tried explicitly setting ylim to the range of values produced by rnorm

Ajax.Autocompleter
I have been working with the Ajax.Autocompleter for about a day so forgive my ignorance. Is there any value in adding additional callbacks. I want perform an action when the user selects a choice. So I was thinking of adding an option {select: function(selectedElement) {}} similar to the callbacks on Ajax.Request in the prototype library. Call me out if you think I am crazy my feelings

Canceling a specific effect
Is there a way to cancel a specific effect? For instance; Effects are added to the queue. Before actually processing the effect, I''d like to check a condition & cancel the effect if necessary. Here''s the code excerpt: var menu = { toggleText: function(element,toggle) { var vis = $(element+''Text'').visible(); if (toggle && !vis)

sortable_list added to by AJAX question
I have a working sortable_list that is added to by AJAX. The problem is that when a new item is added, it''s not sortable. I found a post on scriptaculous using behaviour.js to refresh the DOM when an item is added, but I can''t figure out how to do it with Rails. To test the behaviour method, I used this: var myrules={ ''div#steps ul'' :

Problem with autocomplete
Hello, I''m using scriptaculous library (in symfony) v. 1.6.1 Great library !!!!! I have a problem. While in IE6 it''s all ok (the autocomplete field works perfectly) in FF 1.5.0.2 the field apparently isn''t working. If I try the example in the scriptaculous homepage (v. 1.4.0_pre4 of Prototype) doesn''t work with FF, while the simple online demo, that uses

error unserializing ascii format (v2 or v3)
I ran into an interesting error unserializing a file created with ascii=TRUE: R 3.5.1 (Windows or Linux): > unserialize(serialize(list(raw=as.raw(c(39,41))), NULL, version=2, ascii=TRUE)) Error in unserialize(serialize(list(raw = as.raw(c(39, 41))), NULL, version = 2, : ReadItem: unknown type 29, perhaps written by later version of R The same error happens when the

No joy installing R with shared libs.
Hello, My platform is SuSE 8.1. After downloading and unpacking R version 1.7 I tried building with shared libs enabled. (./configure --enabl-R-shlib). My goal is to use RSPython but I am now in my own private segmentation fault hell. The R build worked fine: make, make check, make install cool. The RSPython build worked fine. Thinking I'm good to go, I run python. But when I import RS

i386 floating point tweaking
Just been trying to get the polygon triangulation code from this package: http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~quake/triangle.html to dyn.load into R. Uh oh. Floating point exceptions. Track it down to some FPU diddling that the author deems is necessary. Here's my minimal code that breaks: flipme.c: #include <fpu_control.h> void flipme(){ int cword; cword=4210; _FPU_SETCW(cword);

Prototype.js: Is there an "in_array"-like function?
Hi i was wondering if there is a quick way to search for a item within an array. Here is my approach for this functionality. It''s an prototype for an Array method called "has": Array.prototype.has = function(needle) { for (var i=0;i<this.length;i++) { if(this[i] == needle){ return true; } } return false; } var someArray = [''jim'',

R 4.0.0 build error with sysdata.rda on ppc64el architecture
The R 4.0.0 package migration on Debian is being held back by a failed build on ppc64el [1]. We can see from the history of builds logs [2] that it used to build, briefly failed, worked again and then failed leading to R 4.0.0's release. (And my bad for missing how the alpha1/alpha2/beta/rc builds failed.) I have however neither changed anything, nor did I ever have to accomodate ppc64el (as

Field and Form.Element design question
Quick design question. I am trying to get a better understanding of Prototype. While reading through the source I am stumped by form.js. There is a "Field" object and a "Form.Element". Both object seem to consists of a series of actions that making interacting with form fields easier. My question is why two objects? It seems that there should be one object that has this
