Fail to build R (PR#1005)
Full_Name: Ziying Sherwin
Version: 1.3.0
OS: Solaris 2.8
Submission from: (NULL) (130.14.31.32)
We tried to install R on our Sun Solaris 2.8 machine using gcc 3.0. During the
compilation,
we got error messages like:
gcc -I. -I../../../src/include -I../../../src/include -I/usr/local/include
-DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -O2 -c sockconn.c -o sockconn.o
gcc -shared -o internet.so Rsock.o internet.o

Trying to build R-1.6.2 under sparc-sun-solaris2.9.
This is a follow-up to a message I posted yesterday concerning
building R-1.6.2.
After a deafening silence regarding that first message I decided
to be fool-hardy and just comment out the line that seemed to
be giving trouble in the file /usr/include/sys/stream.h.
This worked for a while, but soon another error resulted:

Question on trying to build R 2.11.1 on Tru64(aka OSF1)
First I tried 'setenv R_SHELL /usr/local/bin/bash', as bash is the weapon
of choice for the faculty wishing to use R, then ran ./configure as before.
The ./configure output line
using as R_SHELL for scripts ... /usr/local/bin/bash
would seem to indicate that the R_SHELL environment variable was recognized
and acknowledged. However, I got the same build error:

Question on trying to build R 2.11.1 on Tru64(aka OSF1) system
Hello,
I am trying to build the R-2.11.1 software for university faculty to use in
research projects on a DEC/Compaq/HP AlphaServer model GS160 16CPU/64GB memory
running Tru64Unix aka OSF1 version 5.1B-5.
Is it known whether it is possible to build the R-2.11.1 software on the
platform I am using?
In my attempts to build the R-2.11.1 software, I first used the native C
and Fortran 77/90/95

Missing "ISO8859-1.so" on Tru64Unix
Hello,
I am testing Samba 3.0.0 on a Tru64Unix v 5.1b. I compile it with gcc et
gnumake.
I am able to start it and I can see a share.
Until now, I have only one problem: Logs are full of messages like

Problems with sftp under SCO OpenServer
Hello,
I compiled OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 for SCO OpenServer 5.0.5, HPUX B.11.00, and
SunOS 5.7. When I sftp into the HP or Sun box, everything works fine.
However, whenever I sftp into the OpenServer box, all remote filenames
are shown as "(null)". File sizes, owners, etc. display properly. This
behavior is exhibited from all origination points.
OpenSSH was configured with identical

"Windows" share issue; access via smb:// fails, "mount -t cifs" works
Hi,
Is anyone here using smb:// URLs to access "Windows" shares? I've been
doing this for a while with common file systems at work, and it used to
work just fine. Then I while back, I started getting issues; I will now
just keep getting asked for a password when I try to access something
through smb://. I thought at first that this meant there had been some
kind of change

Hello everyone,
I've just attempted to build R-1.4 on Compaq Tru64 (I'll enclose the
text from bug.report() from R-1.3.1 at the end.) The relevant part of
the log is below.
Any ideas?

Compiling error R-0.90.1
Hi,
I'm struggling to compile R-0.90.1 in a RedHat 6.1 machine. (I have the rpm,
but I would like to compile it, as I do under SuSE 6.3). I have also installed
quite a few other libraries (not installed by default, in particular, *-devel-*
ones), but to no avail thus far.
Here's the compilation error after going through ./configure

0.10 almost ready
OK, I'm pretty satisfied with the code for 0.10 so I've been
updating the documentation. The new comparison page is done
and checked in. It has the latest numbers for flac 0.10 and
also shorten 3.2 (was 2.3a). The compression ratios are about
the same but the encoder is much faster. flac -1 beats
shorten on size and speed. flac -3 is much better than shorten
at the same speed, and the

R compile on AIX 5.2
Fellow R Enthusiasts..
I'm trying to compile R on AIX 5.2 32bit with gcc 3.3.2-5. I've
tried both the development bundle R-devel_2006-01-25.tar.gz and the
R-beta.tar.gz from about a month ago. In each instance, I'm using the
following options prior to running "./configure --prefix=/usr/local/R":
