Tps
Hi, I have a 4 column file (long/lat/elev/variable) and I tried to fit the values of my variable to the XYZ space using Tps and I keep getting the following message: Warning messages: 1: GCV search gives a minumum at the endpoints of the grid search in: Krig.find.gcvmin(info, lambda.grid, gcv.grid$GCV, Krig.fgcv, 2: GCV search gives a minumum at the endpoints of the grid search in:

lreadline
I compiled R-1.2.2 on my SuSE 7.1, kernel 2.4.2-2 machine with libreadline.4.1 and although I can use vi commands to scroll on the shell (bash) command line, I CANNOT do it in R. Here's the relevant parts of ./configure (and make): anovo at friedman R-1.2.2 > ./configure | grep readline checking for rl_callback_read_char in -lreadline... yes checking for readline/history.h... yes

Compiling error R-0.90.1
Hi, I'm struggling to compile R-0.90.1 in a RedHat 6.1 machine. (I have the rpm, but I would like to compile it, as I do under SuSE 6.3). I have also installed quite a few other libraries (not installed by default, in particular, *-devel-* ones), but to no avail thus far. Here's the compilation error after going through ./configure [root at friedman R-0.90.1]# make <snip>

dyn.load and/or add new package (Windows 98)
Hi, I have been trying to dyn.load a library (rq.obj), which will allow me to run a quantile regression function, but so far unsuccessfully. I have tried under windows 98 and R 6.24: 1) dyn.load("d:\\...\\rq.obj") 2) dyn.load("d:\...\rq.obj") 3) 1 and 2 accounting for case sensitivity. 4) dyn.load("d:/.../rq.obj") 5) Place the files in the directory where from I

Survival and Hazard Analysis
Hi, I forgot to add to my initial message that I am using Windows 98 (if it's relevant). I need to perform survival analysis and could not find the S+ functions: - survfit (fits a Kaplan-Meier survival curve), or - coxph (fits a Cox proportional hazards model) in R. Are there any alternative functions available? Thanks, Alvaro -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Alvaro A. Novo

LM: Least Squares on Large Datasets OR why lm() is designed the w ay it is
Hi, I have always been wondering why S-Plus/R can not fit a linear model to an arbitrary large data set given that, I thought, it should be pretty straightforward. Sometime ago I came across a reference to LM package, http://www.econ.uiuc.edu/~anovo/LM.html, by Roger Koenker and Alvaro Novo. So I thought here it is at last, but to my surprise this project hasn't made to the recommended

newbie - simple dialout server
Hello, I am new to Asterisk, so RTFM answers welcome too (just include the FM's link :). I'd like to build a simple dialout server based on Asterisk. I installed 0.4.0 from package (a Debian SID machine, "server"). The client is gnophone (a Debian SID machine too, "client"). My modem is a GVC 56k voice modem connected to the server's serial port. Sourcing files with library
Hi everyone, I have written a class with methods that extend generic functions such as as.data.frame or show. When I load this package, I want to ensure that these methods - along with the other functions in the file - are added to R's search path or updated, if necessary. I have made a package using check/build/INSTALL. Will a simple library() call on the package accomplish this? I

Managing DLLs with the same names in an R session
I am having a problem using two DLLs with the same name, but obviously located in different directories, in an R session. The troublesome package is the (Bioconductor) Rgraphviz package. It relies on (3rd party software) graphviz and imports functions from (Bioconductor) package graph. Unfortunately, the current stable release of graphviz for Windows

[fields:image.plot] subtitle under title (not image)?
summary: how to make image.plot print a subtitle between the title and the image, rather than under the image? details: I've got a project https://github.com/TomRoche/ioapi-hack-R that illustrates the use of (et al) the R packages {ncdf4, fields, M3} for processing and visualizing IOAPI data. Relative GCV - poisson and negbin GAMs (mgcv)
I am using gam in mgcv (1.3-22) and trying to use gcv to help with model selection. However, I'm a little confused by the process of assessing GCV scores based on their magnitude (or on relative changes in magnitude). Differences in GCV scores often seem "obvious" with my poisson gams but with negative binomial, the decision seems less clear. My data represent a similar pattern as

Local polynomial regression using locfit
I have a dataset of pregnancy values for multiple years (and ages, not included) with missing years. I would like to use local polynomial regression to smooth the values and estimate for the missing years. I would also like to use GCV to justify the smoothing parameter selection. When using locfit() with lp() I found that the gcvplot function does not work as it is looking for an alpha value to
