.h files
I'm trying to set up R INSTALL for my padi package and the compile needs
-I pkg/src-c
to find some .h files. (Perhaps I should be putting these in a different
location?)
Could someone please explain how I should pass this location to the compiler
used by R INSTALL from the Makefile in my pkg/src?
Thanks

.First.lib
There seems to be a minor problem in .First.lib: the library argument is all of
$RLIBS. I think it should be just the one directory from which the package is
being taken.

alloc
I am trying to get our database interface (PADI) working with R. The code does
some memory allocation and for Splus there is an ifdef which controls whether
malloc or S_alloc is called. I did nm R.binary | grep alloc to see if this was
supported and I find there are some choices:
[2490] | 446036| 272|FUNC |GLOB |0 |7 |R_alloc
[806] | 693956| 312|FUNC |LOCL |0 |7

RINSTALL with doc clobbers function.html
In R 0.63 RINSTALL of a package with documentation still appears to clobber
R/doc/html/function.html and R/doc/html/packages.html so the main help is no
longer available to a user once a package is installed.
I know how to work around this for my own purposes, but I hesitate to release a
package that would do this to some unsuspecting user.

sweave/gc segfault bt
Below is a gdb bt from a segfault provoke by my vignette for dse2. This seems to
be relatively reproducible in the sense that I got a segfault three times
(without gctorture) on Mandrake 9.0 and also caught it in Mandrake 9.1, at what
looks to my untrained eye to be about the same place (actual at
connections.c:293 in Mandrake 9.1). This is the build from Friday morning.

private libraries
My code mostly seems to be working fairly well under R 0.61 but I am still
trying to clean up the install procedures. Is the private library mechanism
working now (i.e. am I doing something wrong because it doesn't work for me) or
should I just install under $RHOME/library?

sweave provoked segfault (PR#2809)
This problem is with R 1.7.0 (as released) on Linux and Solaris. Details below
are from Linux, Mandrake 9.1. The problem also happened with R 1.6.2 and on
Mandrake 9.0.
Vignettes often (for me) provokes problems with the misleading error message:

Solaris make for 0.63 failing
I shouldn't try to do this on Monday morning. Can anyone suggest why the make
for R 0.63 is failing for me under Solaris (SunOS 5.6).

R INSTALL doc woes
I put some documentation in a file dse/man/dse.Rd in and did
R INSTALL -l rlibs dse
This built the copies of dse.Rd in rlibs/dse/{help latex html}.
It also wrote over R/doc/html/function.html and R/doc/html/packages.html,
effectively clobbering all the R documentation.
Also, the link that gets put in R/doc/html/packages.html points to
R/library/dse/html/00Index.html

R CMD check --help
This example from the INSTALL help seems to be broken in R 0.90.1 (on Solaris):
gilp/dse : R CMD check --help
Usage: R CMD check [options] [-l lib] pkg_1 ... pkg_n
I'm trying to figure out how to request more nsize and vsize when using R CMD
check.

Getting 'LinkingTo' to find the right library
I am experimenting with exporting pointers to some of the functions in
deSolve so that other packages may import them, using the
'R_RegisterCCallable' mechanism. I have added a header file and some
other C code in inst/include of the deSolve source package that need to
be accessible to other packages. I have a site-library set up in
Rprofile.site where all installed packages go, and as

Asterisk 1.6.2.7 + app_fax + OpenBSD 4.7 minor issue
Hi folks,
I am having a small problem with asterisk-1.6.2.7 + app_fax on OpenBSD
4.7 -release. Everything seems to work fine. I have a macro which
answers, receives the fax to a tiff, and then runs a script (mailfax) to
convert that to pdf and email it. It all works perfectly except for some
errors I am seeing in the console. After it hangs up I get a dozen or so
messages in the cli

Setting library path (again)
Hi,
Sorry for posting a question that has been asked before but I couldn't
quite find the right answer in previous help topics.
I am trying to set my library path to a user-specified library
("C:/Users/K/Documents/Work/RLib"). I have used
.libPaths("C:/Users/K/Documents/Work/RLib") but when I check the
.libPaths(), both the user-specified and default libraries appear. It
