discrete hazard rate analysis
Dear R users,
I have more of a statistical/econometric question than straight R one.
I have a data set with the discrete hazard rate of small firms survival on
400 counties over a period of 9 years. This data was generated using census
information from the VAT registration number of each one of these business.
I would like to analyze the effect of regional factors (deprivation index,

predicting from coxph with pspline
Hello.
I get a bit confused by the output from the predict function when used
on an object from coxph in combination with p-spline, e.g.
fit <- coxph(Surv(time1, time2, status)~pspline(x), Data)
predict(fit, newdata=data.frame(x=1:2))
It seems like the output is somewhat independent of the x-values to
predict at. For example x=1:2 gives the same result as x=21:22. Does the
result span the

methods() not listing some S3 plot methods...?
Dear List,
This may be related to this email thread initiated by Ben Bolker last
month: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2011-July/061630.html
In answering this Question on StackOverflow
http://stackoverflow.com/q/7195628/429846 I noticed that `methods()` was
not listing some S3 methods for `plot()` provided by the mgcv package.
At the time I wanted to check the development version of R as

Hi all
I am trying to generate a normal unbalanced data to estimate the coefficients of LM, LMM, GLM, and GLMM and their standard errors. Also, I am trying to estimate the variance components and their standard errors. Further, I am trying to use the likelihood ratio test to test H0: sigma^2_b = 0 (random effects variance component), and the t-test to test H0:mu=0 (intercept of the model Yij = mu

Performance and precompute_partition_info_sums_32bit_asm_ia32_()
Previously I wrote that precompute_partition_info_sums_32bit_asm_ia32_() only
makes encoding slower. Now I managed to compile flac with GCC 4.8.1, with this
function enabled and disabled. NASM was enabled, SSE intrinsics disabled.
Then I added -msse option (so that all C code was compiled with -msse),
then -msse2 and so on.
Input file for test: 44.1kHz/16bit/stereo; best compression mode (flac

biplot package II
Dear all,
I've been learning biplot (Gabriel, 1971) and some days ago I sent for
this list a procedural function with invitation for a collaborative package.
Jari Oksanen made some suggestions and I agree with all.
So, I reworked the function under the object-oriented programming
(OOP/S3). I think it is now a good frame for more resources.
Below it is the function and a small script to

SARIMA Model confrimation
Hi..
R Program is shown ARIMA output as below then SARIMA equation is be
(1 - 0.991B^{12})z_t + 43.557 = (1+0.37B)(1-0,915B^{12})a_t
But I try to calculate it by manual . It look like it 's big different from R sofeware,
I am not sure this equation is correct or not . PLS supoort me to confirm it

rate limiting netmask w/ dd-wrt
I''m trying to setup a DD-WRT router (www.dd-wrt.com; embedded micro-device
linux for the uninitiated) to rate limit all the traffic it receives from
its wi-fi interface. I followed the instructions from the cookbook section
on rate limiting (http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.ratelimit.single.html), but
it doesn''t appear to be working. I tested by checking my laptop''s

[PATCH] nouveau: set placement to original placement on uvmm validate.
From: Dave Airlie <airlied at redhat.com>
When a buffer is evicted for memory pressure or TTM evict all,
the placement is set to the eviction domain, this means the
buffer never gets revalidated on the next exec to the correct domain.
I think this should be fine to use the initial domain from the
object creation, as least with VM_BIND this won't change after
init so this should be the

Problem Reading from .txt
I apologize that I've asked a similar question before, but being new to
R I don't think I did a very good job of formating the question.
I've included a text file since the date set is somewhat large.
What I have is a huge string of numbers in a text file. The numbers are
all separated by comma's and the groups are separated by a semicolon.
What I would like to do is read each
