New page InstallFromUSBkey
A new draft page has been created on how to set a USB key to install
CentOS from ISO images. This would be most useful for netbooks or other
systems without a CD/DVD drive.

Editing HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
I'd like to ask for permission to edit HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey.
There was a recent forum thread on using Windows tools to create an
installation USB
(https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=44268&forum=55).
I'd tried some suggested tools; see post no 20 in the thread. I'd like
to edit the Wiki to reflect my results.

Correction to HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
There's a mistake in HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey , so I'd like to ask that
someone fix it, or that I be given editing rights.
The mistake is that in the section on CentOS 6, step 8, the correct
command is "syslinux /dev/sdb1" (only).
Also, although this isn't a mistake, I'd like to suggest mentioning in
step 1 that the reason why part of the USB key has to be formatted

Request for Wiki edit permission - booting into kickstart from all-in-one USB flash drive
I'm currently testing a process very similar to that found here:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
And would like to update that doc with my observations once confirmed.
Preliminary notes (not all relevant to that specific WikiPage - suggestions
for where to put the non-kickstart info?

Hoping to contribute
Hello everyone. My 'wikiname' is JariJaakkola.
I have a desire to be able to contribute to the CentOS community
in some way.
So, I am proposing a page that would be called a 'Newcomer's Checklist'.
I feel the location of such page could best be decided by someone else
as
it would at least depend on the quality/usefulness of the page.
Thank you,
Jari

Installing from USB
I found this http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
So for centos 7 if did the dd command seemed to work great.
I did the install.
So now I'd like to "modify" the USB key to add a boot menu option with my
customer install options. I mounted /dev/sdb2 and edited the file
/mnt/usb/EFI/BOOT/grub.conf
added my menu item and rebooted to try to use it.
It does not show up in

Thanks.
More or less the answer I was hoping for.
My recollection had been that even when possible,
booting from USB involved black magic.
This helped:

SELECT CASE in RODBC
Hi all,
I have a problem with a variable created by a SELECT CASE statement. See
the code below.
I would like the variable "event" to be a character variabel as I want to
UNION my two SELECTs - and the "event"-variable is a character variable in
the first SELECT result.
I have tried different ways:

[LLVMdev] Release Manager Position
After several years as LLVM release manager, I’ve decided to step down as release manager. I recently haven’t been able to focus as much time on LLVM development as I should, and I don’t want the releases to suffer because of that. I’ve enjoyed all of the releases I’ve done. We have a great team of testers. And the community as a whole really helps out so that we can produce a great produce.

quality vs bitrate
The problem is that the mp3 dewdz will be used to looking at bitrates to
determine quality, so the solution (as several here say) seems to me to just
rip out anything mentioning bitrate from the simple tools.
But, they will still see the bitrate in players like winamp.
To solve this, why not store the quality setting used when encoding into the
ogg file itself ? Either use a field unused when

filling an array
Hi All
I'm just wondering if there is a quick way of filling a way with the
following.
I want to declare array I with a specific length and then alternatively
fill it with 10 zeros and 10 specified values:
v<- 14
I <- c(0,length(t))
But in stead of just filling I with 0 I want 10 zeros and then 10 fourteens
(i.e. the value in v)
Hope that makes sense.

Removing points
I have a some data, and imagine a column of how many parasitic eggs found in
the stool of some children some of the children we do not have this data so
we put -1 in stead. How can you remove the people with -1, to calculate
means and do box plots. Thank you!

ssh-copy-id usability improvement
Hi,
I had trouble recently with using the ssh-copy-id -i switch (in
portable OpenSSH?s contrib/), where it told me that ?no identities
found?, while I the file existed and contained a valid public key text
line. The problem was, that the file was named something.key in stead
of something.pub, and the script tried to read the non-existent
something.key.pub.
The two small patches below fix that,

Suddenly can''t access the puppetmaster anymore
Hi,
I have a number of puppets talking to 1 puppetmaster. Everything was
working fine until suddenly this week the puppets are revolting.
Whenever I try to run ''puppetd -v'' I see a lot of messages like:
Certificates were not trusted: hostname was not match
I''m sure I did not make any changes to DNS lately and I didn''t upgrade

Wiki page request for HP Pavilion DV7-2250ED laptop
Hello,
I'd like to add a wiki page for the HP Pavillion DV7-2250ED laptop.
The proposed position would be
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/HP/Pavilion-DV7-2250ed
I'd like to add the steps needed to install, and what's needed to get
wireless working (and anything else that pops up after that).
