feature request? user-mode tinc
I have an account on a server, where I do not
have access to root or kernel rebuilds on a *BSD box.
I am setting up tinc VPN in several other servers.
I would like to establish a tinc node on my virtual server
and have the node relate to other programs on my server
via UNIX sockets.
Does such a tool (or tool-kit) exist, to allow me to run a
tinc-compatible VPN node completely in user mode? I

1 Server, Multiple Client Setup
Hello,
I have tried for days on end with no success on this, so I thought I would
post it here and see if someone can help me at all.
*Here's the scenario:*
I have 1 PC with a Static IP/Domain (a dyndns.org account -
myserver.homeip.net) connected to a router, which in turn is the gateway to
the internet. It also has a static local IP (192.168.1.2). I will call this

A tun/tap driver for an i386 OS X

If found that in the downloads(1) page:
September 13, 2009:
Change linker options to produce 64 bit kext bundle for Snow Leopard.
Removing the hardcoded arch from the Makefiles breaks the compilation,
so I eventually picked version 20090905. And it works :)

UPnP support in tinc
Hi Guus,
Unfortunately, I often notice that even with the advanced UDP hole
punching mechanisms that tinc uses, I still come across cases on my
network where two nodes behind NATs cannot talk to each other because
one of the nodes is behind a "strict" NAT that won't use consistent
source ports for UDP packets that are sent to different destination
addresses.
More formally, this

Advertising a Public IP address
Hi all
I feel like I should know the answer to this question, like I read it
someplace sometime, but it evades me right now.
It's also an opportunity to say hello to the list and many thanks for
writing and supporting tinc vpn! We make great use of it at rhizomatica.
So,
Let's take this example setup.
I have two tinc nodes (A and B) behind a firewall
NodeA and NodeB have 192.168.1.2

Best Wireless configuration
Hi,
I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on how to setup a network to run VPN
over wireless.
I currently have:
Wireless Laptop ----> Router with VPN pass through ---> DSL modem.
There is also a wired desktop running Win '98se connected to the router.
The Wireless Laptop is running XP Pro sp1.
I am open for suggestions on how to run VPN over the wireless. I just want to

*-{up,down} env vars
hi! yesterday i was adding "hooks" to librevpn's tools[0] and while
debugging[1] why tinc would say the scripts exited with non zero status,
i noticed the PWD wasn't set to what i expected (PWD=/ instead of
PWD=/etc/tinc/$NETNAME). the hooks/scripts dir is in scripts/ so
running scripts/$event-* would fail because it'd look for them in
/scripts/$event-*...

A tun/tap driver for an i386 OS X
Hello everyone!
I have a PowerMac running 10.6.8 and I'd love to get it connected to my
VPN. However, even by compiling tuntaposx by hand on the said MacPro, I
see that the kernel module is apparently built for x86_64 systems:
macintosh MacOS ?? pwd
/Library/Extensions/tun.kext/Contents/MacOS
macintosh MacOS ?? file tun
tun: Mach-O 64-bit kext bundle x86_64
Because YES! The system is

Select elements from text
Hi,
I have a series of MS word files and each file contains plain text. From
these texts I would like to extract only those elements (read: words) that
are between square brackets. Example of a text:

tincd without root privileges
hey,
is there a way to run tinc on a (linux) box, with a public ip,
but on which i don't have root privileges ?
the server just connects nodes (behind natted firewall) & relays
their traffic, so no need for tap/tun interface on the box itself.

Examples request - tinc witn tun/utun mode=router
Hi Folks,
Does anyone have a set of config files handy, using tinc in routed/tun
mode (preferably DeviceType=utun)
I'm particularly interested to see what the tinc-up and tinc-down files
should look like when the vpn is not using tap mode.
I have this, from my tap (switch mode tinc) , but it doesn't work for
tun devices.
ifconfig $INTERFACE inet 10.10.101.2/24 up
If I run my
