patch for tinc-0.3
Hi tinc list members, There were some problems with Ivo's email adresses (both zarq@iname.com and zarq@spark.icicle.dhs.org) so I resent the stuff to the mailling list. ============================================= Hi Ivo, Hier is een oplossing voor een bugje in flush_queue(), en ook wat andere troepjes zoals een tincd scheduler. Dit werkt wat beter, omdat de

Bugginess since crypto changes
I'm looking over the tinc-1.1 branch again. I'm getting some errors that I haven't been able to track down yet. tinc sometimes crashes either on its own (I think after a timeout has fired?) or when I hit ctrl-C. I've seen a few different behaviors in particular, as reported by valgrind. Dumps below. I suspected the bufferevent changes, but I haven't gotten any revision before

Samba -> WinXP: slow transfers, partial solution
Hello All, I'm running Samba 3.0.24 as PDC and file server on Gentoo Linux, AMD64, 2.6.19 kernel, 100MBit/s network, and experience quite slow file transfers from Samba to WinXP SP2 clients: the speed is varying, but is about 1-2Mb/s at best. I spent quite some time investigating the issue, here are the intermediate results: 1) This happens only when transferring _from_ _Samba_ to

Lost packets and strange "behaviour" of my TC rules
Hi all. I''m going on my 3rd week trying to get a simple traffic shapping to work the right way :( !! My goal it to shape the traffic coming from one machine (pc1) to another machine (pc2) throught the "eth0" interface. My test configuration is as follows: PC1   IP: 192.168.105.237   Mask: 255.255.255.0   OS: Red Hat Linux Kernel 2.4.20-8   Rules:

10th anniversary of tinc 1.0
Hello everyone, Today is exactly 10 years ago that tinc 1.0 was released. I would have hoped to celebrate this by releasing 1.0.22 and 1.1pre8 today, but this will instead happen in one week. Tinc 1.1 is close to becoming stable, and I hope to release 1.1.0 before the end of the year. The main features of tinc 1.1 are the improved security over tinc 1.0, and a much nicer interface that makes it

MTU issues
Hi All, Sorry for disturbing you if the issues has been discussed earlier but I cannot find clear explanation of my problem. Tracing the tinc logs (a debug level) I have found that the MTU value of the connection is determined and chosen at the beginning of the tunnel setup. My question is following: is the MTU value renegotiated / rechecked after the tunnel is established? The question

tinc performance relatively slow
------- TL;DR ------- Performance seems slow (around 300-400Mbit peak). How to improve? ------- The Long Version ------- I tried to test tinc performance for an upcoming project that may need to use NFS over a VPN. Our current tinc network seems to be able to transmit at around 30-40 MB/s. (I used an 1GB random testfile to copy to/from /dev/shm/; using netcat and http.) In comparison, HTTP and

Wineserver causing heavy CPU load
I am running Fedora 8 uname -r = 2.6.24.4-64.fc8 on my box with Wine 0.9.58. When I first installed it I noticed that my CPU usage jumped and stayed at 100% with wineserver taking > 85%. I killed the wineserver process and it dropped down, however it soon jumped back up when wineserver restarted itself. I then killed it again and all related processes and disabled it from starting as a damen

tinc and routing Cont'd
Hi, What i said above is not true, i didn't realize that the reason the route disappeared was caused by a script that restarts tinc (and also resets the tap device), not by tinc itself. I compiled and installed tinc 0.3 today. It seems to work ok, even on a very slow 486 that caused to crash earlier tinc version. -- Hans Bayle - Tinc: Discussion list about the tinc VPN daemon

tinc and routing
Hi, I have an experimental setup with two interconnected LANs by means of tinc and a cable ISP. Within the two LANS, two machines act as a router: they have a route from LAN a to LAN b using the tap0 device in their routing tables. The route is manually added by the route command. If for one reason, tincd crashes the route disappears also. What would be the best way to solve this problem?

Files exist, but sometimes are not seen by the clients: "No such file or directory"
Hello all, We're having problems with files that suddenly stop being seen on the fuse clients. I couldn't yet find a way to reproduce this. It happens every once in a while. Sometimes you try to ls some file and it can't be found. When you run ls on the parent directory, it is shown on the output, and, after that, you can access it. I'm mentioning ls, but the problem also

tinc on macosx
Hi, I have macosx 10.5.8 and Tunnelblick (openvpn) installed before. I have installed tinc using port and got version 1.0.11 (Jun 29 2010 15:10:51) now I have 2 problems: 1) the interface variable from the tinc.conf is not used, instead I have a tun0 interface (or tap0). 2) the tinc-up script seems to be fired too early as I get an error: ifconfig: interface /dev/tap0 does not exist when I run

HA firewall with tinc
I have 2 firewall in HA with keepalived. Can I use active the same tinc configuration on 2 firewalls ? using tun Interface with same ip on all 2 nodes is a problem ? tun device advertise itself on the network having an IP/MAC pairs (ARP) or the IP is only used by the system internally for routing so using the same configuration is right ? so one firewall be active, the other is passive.
