Windows build?
I performed a get on the CVS WxRuby2; I have installed wxWidgets 2.6.3 and
SWIG 1.3.29. Additionally I am running Visual Studio on Windows XP. When I
run rake to compile I receive the following error.

Plans to rename wxruby-swig to wxruby2
Greetings all,
Over the last few months, while I have been busy on other projects, Nick
and other folks have built wxruby-swig up to where it now supports about
120 classes, compared to the 139 in wxruby 0.6. When you include the
fact that wxruby 0.6 had a few classes that really weren''t needed
(because non-wx ruby versions work fine), it looks like wxruby-swig is
actually very

I am trying to compile WxRuby on Ubuntu 6.06. I checked out the latest
source code from CVS and ran ''rake'' under the wxruby2 directory. I am

embedding wxruby?
Hello,
is it possible to code a wxWidgets GUI in C++ and pass the whole wxApp or just single windows to embedded Ruby code? This would be very nice to provide a scriptable plugin system.
Greetings,
Niklas

Wx::Scintilla class not defined
I''m posting this for a friend who is having trouble with this and here is
his message.
"Heya! I''m working on a script editor application, but it''s missing one key
feature: Syntax highlighting. Seeing this, I looked around in the sample
directory and came across scintilla.rb. I attempted a run, however Ruby

wxruby/version/linux
Dear WxRuby users and hackers,
am I right that WxRuby 0.6 which I have downloaded today from the
webpage is based on WxWidgets 2.4, which is based on GTK 1.2?
I have tried to run ''make'' after ''ruby extconf.rb'' with
WxRuby0.6/WxWidgets 2.6.3 but I got this error:
~/ruby/src/wxruby-0.6-src/src$ make
g++ -fPIC -O2 `wx-config --cxxflags` -I.

wxSockets
Hello guys,
Alright Alex..... I need a few tips on where to start. I know that I''m
going to need to rewrite the wxSocket header files, in order to incorperate
them into wxRuby. But some advice on stuff such as
wxSocketClient::new/connect, where it takes a wxIPAddress, and so forth. I
know they are pretty friviolous structures for holding information about
Addresses in which to make

WxRuby newbie Mac OS 10.4 install questions
Hi. Forgive me if I am asking questions that have already been
answered a million times,
but there doesn''t seem to be an easy way to search the wxruby-users
archives, so...
I tried to install wxruby for the Mac
by downloading the latest Mac package installer from
rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/1985/wxruby-0.6.0-osx-panther.dmg
and tried to run some of the wxruby-0.6.0/samples from the

Re: Problem building wxRuby: htmlproc.h not found
Hi,
Has this problem been resolved?
I encountered the same problem on my FC3 system with wxGTK-2.4.2 and
wxruby-0.6.
Thanks.

wxruby and wxwidget-2.9.5 latest
is there a way to have wxwidget-2.9 working with ruby ? seems that the
latest wxwidget is better for use with mac osx...
so, there is many widget who are not been implemented in the last
version of wxruby... like wxFilePickerCtrl (and other).
Also, it seems like the wxruby project is dead since 2009. Is it right ?
So, do you know if someone seriously have intention to follow the
project or is it

SWIG compilation
The result of the compilation after installing swig results in lots of
errors of the sort:
WindowDisabler.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol
_SWIG_Ruby_ConvertPtr
I can see this is defined in rubydef.swg but I''m not sure why this isn''t
just included in the files that need it. Can any swig experts tell me
what I need to do to progress? I''m using

First drop of new memory management
Hi
Just a quick update on memory leaks etc. I''ve just dropped a bunch of
patches with a new approach to linking ruby''s GC to Wx''s memory
handling. Still some work to do - eg bigdemo.rb falls over quite quickly
- but working well for me on other samples.
Briefly, it disposes of fixdeleting. For almost all objects that aren''t
Windows, they should now be

find_window_by_xxx doesn''t find Gauge or BitmapButton
I''m fairly new to the Ruby world, particularly WxRuby, so please
forgive me if this is ground that''s been covered in the past. I''m
trying to load a frame from an XRC file (created using DialogBlocks),
and I''m having trouble getting an instance of the Gauge object using
the Wx::Window.find_window_by_xxx methods. I''m trying this on Windows

Official name change to wxruby2
The CVS module has been renamed from wxruby-swig to wxruby2, and I have
checked in the related changes to reflect the name change. Anyone with a
CVS tree will need to re-checkout from CVS because of the module name
change.
There is now a wx.rb in the lib/ directory, which loads the wxruby2
shared library that gets built.
I have tagged this as 0.0.22.
Next steps:

Hello Everyone
I have a bit of a problem with installation. I installed wxX11 in my
linux box. I compiled the demos and all the demos, save dbbrowse,
work. I think I have a functional wx. Now I''m trying to install wxRuby
from source, since I have a 64 bit machine. I only have permission to
my home directory so my installation is :

Pointer position on keypress event?
Hi.
Is there any straightforward way to tell pointer position (x, y)
upon keypress? In original wxWidgets, wxKeyEvent supports GetX()
and GetY() methods, but wxRuby''s KeyEvent object does not have
one. I also checked with event.methods and event.instance_variables.
Do I need to keep track of pointer position by evt_motion?
