[V6 PATCH] virtio-net: send gratuitous packets when needed
As hypervior does not have the knowledge of guest network configuration, it's
better to ask guest to send gratuitous packets when needed.
Guest tests VIRTIO_NET_S_ANNOUNCE bit during config change interrupt and when it
is set, a workqueue is scheduled to send gratuitous packet through
NETDEV_NOTIFY_PEERS. This feature is negotiated through bit
VIRTIO_NET_F_GUEST_ANNOUNCE.

[net-next V7 PATCH] virtio-net: send gratuitous packets when needed
As hypervior does not have the knowledge of guest network configuration, it's
better to ask guest to send gratuitous packets when needed.
This patch implements VIRTIO_NET_F_GUEST_ANNOUNCE feature: hypervisor would
notice the guest when it thinks it's time for guest to announce the link
presnece. Guest tests VIRTIO_NET_S_ANNOUNCE bit during config change interrupt
and woule send gratuitous

[RFC V2 PATCH] virtio-spec: ack the announce notification through ctrl_vq
During link announcement, driver needs a method to notify device that it has
received the notification and let it clear the VIRITO_NET_S_ANNOUNCE bit in the
status field. Doing this through a dedicated command looks suitable for all
platforms (especially for the ones who don't trap the status read or write) with
a ctrl vq and can solve the race between host and guest.
So this patch makes

[PATCH] virtio-spec: split virtio-net device status filed into ro and rw byte
This patch splits the device status field of virtio-net into ro and rw
byte. This would simplify the implementation of both host and guest
and make the layout more clean. As VIRTIO_NET_S_ANNOUNCE is a rw bit,
it was moved to bit 8 (0x100).
btw. looks like there's no implementation that depends on
VIRTIO_NET_S_ANNOUNCE, so the move is safe.

[PATCH v2 1/2] virtio-net: rephrase devconf fields description
Clarify general description of the mac, status and
max_virtqueue_pairs fields. Specifically, the old description is
vague about configuration layout and fields offsets when some of
the fields are non valid.
Also clarify that validity of two status bits depends on two
different feature flags.

[net-next rfc v7 0/3] Multiqueue virtio-net
Hi all:
This series is an update version of multiqueue virtio-net driver based on
Krishna Kumar's work to let virtio-net use multiple rx/tx queues to do the
packets reception and transmission. Please review and comments.
A protype implementation of qemu-kvm support could by found in
git://github.com/jasowang/qemu-kvm-mq.git. To start a guest with two queues, you
could specify the queues

[PATCH] virtio-net: put virtio net header inline with data
For small packets we can simplify xmit processing by linearizing buffers
with the header: most packets seem to have enough head room we can use
for this purpose.
Since some older hypervisors (e.g. qemu before version 1.5)
required that header is the first s/g element,
we need a feature bit for this.
