Universal Binary on OS X
Since the PPC Macs are no longer being produced and my PPC build
machine is getting a little old I thought I would try making a
universal version of the Mac OS X gem.
After a little investigation it turned out to be surprisingly easy to
do, just pass --enable-universal_binary when building wxWidgets and
add -arch ppc -arch i386 to $extra_cppflags and $extra_ldflags in
rakemacosx.rb.
Now the

Patch for Unicode on windows
This patch makes Unicode the default build for windows. You can
override the default by setting a WXRUBY_NO_UNICODE environment variable.

Bug #16760
Hi,
I just submitted bug #16760. Feel free to contact me
with any questions or comments. (svn failed too, but I
can''t say if this is the same error. If this is a dependency
issue, the main web page should be updated too.)
I''m just trying to run wxruby and go through the tutorial,
but also want enter it as a new package for the SourceMage
GNU/Linux distribution.
Thanks.

sash position problem
Hi,
I''ve written a small app implementing SplitterWindow and have a problem
with specifying the sash position on Windows.
At the moment, I call split_vertically and pass it a positive integer for
position. This works as expected on FreeBSD and Linux (Ubuntu and
Debian), but seems to have no effect on Windows.
Is there something particular I need to be doing to get this to work on

embedding wxruby?
Hello,
is it possible to code a wxWidgets GUI in C++ and pass the whole wxApp or just single windows to embedded Ruby code? This would be very nice to provide a scriptable plugin system.
Greetings,
Niklas

Hello Everyone
I have a bit of a problem with installation. I installed wxX11 in my
linux box. I compiled the demos and all the demos, save dbbrowse,
work. I think I have a functional wx. Now I''m trying to install wxRuby
from source, since I have a 64 bit machine. I only have permission to
my home directory so my installation is :

Installing from source missing -lruby18 in linking.
I am trying to build wxruby from source, but I have encounter an error.
For some reason the ''rake'' command fail when it tries to link lib/wxruby2.so
because it is missing missing -lruby18
resulting in errors like
wx.cpp:(.text+0x1618): undefined reference to `rb_intern''
wx.cpp:(.text+0x165c): undefined reference to `rb_eNotImpError''

Problems installing/running svn-code
Hi,
The last couple of days I''ve been trying to get back on the wxRuby-horse
however I''ve ran into some problems while compiling/testing the
subversion sources. Mind, the 1.9.2 official release works fine.
Absolutely no problems whatsoever.
The first hurdle was that the rake install target doesn''t work. It fails
on rakewx.rb:145. Looking into it I found that

Patch for wxRuby2
Ok so I made a lot of changes and the controls sample works pretty good now.
What I changed or added:
- Got all my modifications meshed into wxRuby2.
- Added constructors to wxIcon.h
- Changed Xrc.i to XmlResource.i and changed wxXrc to wxXmlResource
within the file.
I also had to change Xrc to XmlResource in rakewx.rb.
- For backwards compatability with wxRuby 0.6 I added the subclass methods

Patches to rake files
rakewx.rb:
- Added a $debug_build variable so when we do eventually we can also
release non debug builds. I did not make this a constant on purpose so
in the package tasks we can change it to false if we want to always
make non debug builds by default.
- Changed wx_config to use the $debug_build variable
rakemswin.rb:
- Updated the copyright year.
- removed the $DEBUG const and make use of

Problem running Samples
Hi. I''m desperately trying to learn Ruby and wxWidgets, on my 64-bit
Linux machine. However when I try to run any of the samples from the
command line I get the following error message:
ruby: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/wxruby-1.9.8-x86_64-linux/lib/wxruby2.so:
undefined symbol: Init_wxMediaCtrl
I''d be very grateful for any help. Many thanks in advance!

Scintilla
wxScintilla already comes with a SWIG friendly header file. I modified
the rakewx and the Scintilla.i file to include it directly from the
wxScintilla install. This means it''s an odd-ball compared to our other
classes. Does anyone see a problem with this? I think it''s best to use
the one supplied with the installation to avoid problems of the header
file getting out of

Compiling WxRuby2 on Ubuntu 6.06
Hi All,
I am trying to compile WxRuby on Ubuntu 6.06. I checked out the latest
source code from CVS and ran ''rake'' under the wxruby2 directory. I am
getting the following error.
root@imayam:/work/wxruby/wxruby2# rake
(in /work/wxruby/wxruby2)

Scintilla
Hi
I''ve been trying out the StyledTextCtrl/Scintilla component bundled with
wxWidgets 2.8. Surprisingly, it''s very easy to get this working at a
basic level with wxRuby (95% of credit to Roy, who originally created a
SWIG file for this).
So I''m wondering: should we try and integrate this into wxRuby core?
Pros:
- a cool component, interesting to developers
- not

Official name change to wxruby2
The CVS module has been renamed from wxruby-swig to wxruby2, and I have
checked in the related changes to reflect the name change. Anyone with a
CVS tree will need to re-checkout from CVS because of the module name
change.
There is now a wx.rb in the lib/ directory, which loads the wxruby2
shared library that gets built.
I have tagged this as 0.0.22.
Next steps:

build problems
I am running on a redhat linux box. I could not use the binary package
because I do not have libXinerama, and installing it is a nightmare of
dependencies (and I am not root, so I can''t use the package manager).
So I am trying to install from source. I installed wxGTK-2.8.7. I
downloaded wxruby-1.9.2, and issued "rake", and got:
rake aborted!
