[PATCH V2 4/4] x86: correctly detect hypervisor
We try to handle the hypervisor compatibility mode by detecting hypervisor
through a specific order. This is not robust, since hypervisors may implement
each others features.
This patch tries to handle this situation by always choosing the last one in the
CPUID leaves. This is done by letting .detect() returns a priority instead of
true/false and just re-using the CPUID leaf where the signature

[PATCH 00/07] Remove and replace all un-needed DPRINT and printk
This patch set removes all un-needed DPRINT and printk calls and replaces
the remaining ones with the correct pr_, dev_ and netdev_ calls
from hv_vmbus, hv_netvsc, hv_timesource and hv_utils.
Several DPRINTS are remaining that will be cleaned up in my next
set of patches. They deal with printing out certain debugging that will be
implemented slightly differently.

signatures. I have implemented this based on Greg's feedback on my earlier
implementation.
2) Cleanup error handling across the board and use standard Linux error codes.

RHEL (CentOS, Oracle Liux) kernel 2.6.32-358 does not start at XCP
Hi, everyone,
Two days ago I have filed a bug to Red Hat https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=918239
The problem is, that new RHEL-6.4's kernel 2.6.32-358 does not start at HVM on Xen Cloud Platform 1.6 (maybe, also affected XenServer 6.1)
I have tested kernels -358 from CentOS, Oracle and -356 from Red Hat both i686 and x86_64 at 2 different server hardware
The sympthoms: kernel does

[PATCH 7/7] x86: cleanup bogus CONFIG_ACPI_PCI uses
We''re building for one case (CONFIG_ACPI_PCI defined) only, yet still
had the other case''s code in there. Additionally there was quite a bit
of pseudo-duplication between disabled(!) DMI scan and ACPI boot code.
acpi_pci_disabled had only a single reader, which is off by default
(i.e. must be enable on the command line), so it seems pointless to
keep it.

[RFC] Enable _OSI(Linux) for Xen HVM domains
I''d like to send this patch to upstream lkml/linux-acpi, but I want to
make sure that the x86 side wants this too. The _OSI method is a way
for platform ACPI firmware to determine the features and capabilities of
the OS running on the system. This is usually done by calling the _OSI
method with various strings in the _INI method of an ACPI device. The
strings are things like
