Puppet 3 and master cert error ...
Hey all, after installing the 3.0.0 version of puppet (debian package from puppetlabs), doing the initial config, doing an initial start of master to generate the certs needed and then starting apache with passenger to control puppetmaster. I can do: puppet ca list --all and get a listing of the certs in the system (initially only the master). afterwards, on the client node, I run: puppet

Samba PDC and User Management with Perl scripts
Hello, I want to implement a perl logon script which would map network shares depending on group membership. This way when I move a user to or from a group it automatically gets the new shares. The PDC is Samba 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 on BSD and clients are NT workstation and 2000 Pro. Perl is latest activestate for win32 and is intended to run on Win32 clients. The big trouble is getting user Group

I agree this is an interesting idea ... Windows cannot add samba domain
I have set up a samba (3.0.22) as PDC on Suse and can actually login into the linux machine from windows (My Network Places) and sambstatus shows me as an active user. But when I try to add the domain to the windows machine it fails and says "the specified domain either doesn't exist or could not be contacted". I even shut down the firewall on linux and windows just in case but

ID3 in ogg 1.0
Hello! I have a suggestion that I want to present before the final release. One thing I've missed in mp3/ID3 is a field that could tell either in what language is the song/clip performed, or otherwise from what country is the artist. What do you think of that? It would be a possibility to supercede mp3. :) Regards Bo _________________________________________s_p_r_a_y_ Här börjar Internet!

Issues with cifs mounts following Samba upgrade to 3.0.23a
My LAN includes a server machine running FC4, with several shares mounted with Samba. Yesterday, I upgraded the packages on the FC4 machine, and these included Samba, which is now at 3.0.23a. Unfortunately, this seems to have broken the mounted shares for my Ubuntu 6.06 installation on my Acer 1682WLMI laptop. The cifs module on Ubuntu reports as version 1.39. The symptoms are that I can

But as with all DNS transfers, there may be delay as the changes propagate the net. If you can't get to winehq.com, use winehq.org instead. There will be no difference between the two domains. WineHQ.com Move Complete
The WineHQ.com move is complete, but not without some issues. The 1st issue is that our mailing lists (mailman) sent out a huge amount of email because the newsgroup gateway changed. It basically thought all the messages on comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine were new. Apologies go out to the users whose email inboxes we filled up. So in the meantime, the newsgroup gateway, and the NNTP server on

Successful integration using Winbind - not a dream
Good Morning to All, I have a Red Hat 7.3 box with Samba 2.2.5 successfully integrated with a Windows 2000 domain. I am using a Win2K Domain Controller to hold all of the user accounts. I use WebMin 1.0 for the administration of my Linux box, and am able to pull up domain user accounts when putting permissions on files on the RH machine. I used a combination of resources to do this.

integrating active directory with samba 3.0
Hi can some please help me integrate samba 3.0 with active directory. I'm very confused about this process so far my research led me to the following article http://asia.cnet.com/itmanager/netadmin/0,39006400,39081966,00.htm. However other research led me to the use of winbind for this setup. The confusing thing is that the article did not mention winbind. I would like to have it where we

samba 2.2.1a and WAN-Shares
Hi out there, I`ve not a real problem (currently), but a few questions on wan-wide (read: low bandwidth) share distribution with samba 2.2.1a. The setup described below was developed in a hurry (was needed by tomorrow :-\). Are there better ways to do this? What are the pros and cons of using the msdfs - options in this situation? Has anyone set up a similar share topology? If so, would you
