Should I dump my Nvidia card from the less known brand "Gainward"?
Hi everyone.
I'm a big Free Software enthusiast and, therefore, I would very much like to use the nouveau free driver, instead of the proprietary one.
My problem is that, looking for the cheapest option available, when I needed to buy a new graphics card, 2 years ago, I decided for a model from a brand that I had never heard of - called "Gainward" - because I thought it had a

Updating to the bleeding edge version of Ferret
Hey guys,
It has occurred to me that a lot of people need some of the fixes I
make to Ferret ASAP and don''t like having to wait to long for the gem.
On the other hand, it is a bit of a pain to download and install from
subversion because then you need to uninstall when the next gem comes
out. So I thought I may as well put some instructions out as to how
you can build your own Ferret gem

I'm sorry for having to open a new topic, in here... But, due to all the

Good call on including the network gear in the power budget. NUT isn't much use to the slave systems if the network connection between master and slave goes down.

Problems configuring an NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 with a 1366x768 screen
Hello people. This is the first time I write to this list. Today, I tried to
test the latest version of Nouveau in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty (as downloadable on
the PPA located at
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates). The screen
defaulted to 1024x768, but the full screen's resolution is
1366x768. I tried to change the maximum resolution via xorg.conf, but the OS
refused to start

OpenSSL-0.9.6-beta3 and SSH2
Hello folks, just rebuilt the latest snapshot of OpenSSH from Damien's
page using the latest beta of OpenSSL-0.9.6-beta3 and have good news: SSH2
works again! Any fellow bleeding-edgers want to confirm this? Btw, I
tested this on i686/Linux.

Hekp dtrace -l is bleeding Unstable implementation details all over my USDT probe namespace :(
Hi,
As I''ve discussed before whenever we add USDT probes to a C++ function
and call dtrace -l we get the mangled C++ name for the dtrace function,
being listed :(
Now the point of USDT probes is to abstract a higher level semantic
construct for users to make use of. Surely it is not meant to be listing
Unstable Interfaces (implementation details), such as the containing C++

Any tips to avoid Nouveau crashes & freezes?
At FSF, we've been having trouble with Nouveau related kernel errors and
freezes which require a reboot for about 2 years now.
The issue mostly occurs when doing video conferencing in a browser plus
recording that using OBS (Open Broadcast Studio). We've found all the
configurations we've tested to crash/freeze from about once a day to
several times a day. This is mainly a problem

Can't get anything to run on WINE using Nvidia drivers
Hi, I'm moving my games from my laptop to my desktop, however the games don't run. I can get installation screens, loading screens etc. but nothing past that. Have followed all instructions from AppDB and have everything set up the same as on my laptop where the games work.
I have a feeling it has something to do with the nvidia proprietary drivers (using the xorg-edgers PPA). Here's
