Pure Ruby TCP Daemon
Hi all, I created a "pure" branch on github that uses the code Heesob posted a while back: http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/win32utils-devel/2008-November/001274.html However, I couldn''t make it work on my Vista laptop. c:\Users\djberge\Repositories\win32-service\examples>ruby demo_daemon_ctl.rb start VERSION: 0.8.0

[Fwd: [win32utils-help][6822] Eventlog problem]
Dang, I thought we solved this. Any ideas? Dan PS - I realized after reading this I forgot to bump the version number for 0.3.3 - I''ve uploaded a new zip file with the correct version number. -------------- next part -------------- An embedded message was scrubbed... Attempt to build a gemspec
Hi all, I''m trying to build a gemspec for win32-ipc, using a precompiled binary. Here''s my gemspec file: #win32-ipc.gemspec require "rubygems" spec = Gem::Specification.new do |s| s.name = "win32-ipc" s.version = "0.3.1" s.platform = Gem::Platform::WIN32 s.summary = "A base class for Win32 synchronization objects."

Gem problem
Hi all, I''m trying to build some gems for the Win32Utils packages, but I''m having a problem. Below is the gemspec. Specifically, the issue seems to be the require_path. If I set it to "lib", it sets the path properly, but installs the .so file in the wrong place - it puts it under lib, instead of lib/win32. However, if I specify ''lib/win32'' it

A quick announcement
Hi all, In light of Curt''s decision to use VC++ 6 to build the latest one click installer, along with what are undoubtedly future compatibility problems between old and new compilers, I think it''s best if we try to move over the simpler packages to a pure Ruby solution using Win32API. I have started that process by releasing pure Ruby versions of win32-clipboard and

Problem reading log with win32-eventlog - buffer too small
Hi all, A user recently ran into an issue with win32-eventlog and the EventLog#read method when reading a saved log file. It seems that there''s an issue. After some experimentation I found that the problem seems to be that the initial buffer to ReadEventLog() in line 558 is too small, so it tries a second call to ReadEventLog() with a larger buffer. The problem is that, after I

Hi, Hm, the string inserts are different, too. Any encoding issues? Your user name uses extended ASCII, too, right? Not sure if that''s significant or not. I''ve cc''d the win32utils-devel list to see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks, Dan botp wrote: > On 12/4/07, Daniel Berger <djberg96 at gmail.com> wrote: >> Can you tell us which record numbers in

Mongrel as win32-service, round3.
Hello lists! This is not spam, but included the 2 lists (mongrel-users and win32utils-devel) because the both are involved. Attached is the 3rd version of a simple http_service script used previously to get the things right for the mongrel Rails service. With the modifications Zed implemented the past days (into the beta gem, 0.3.13). Now the service part works better. Still, a few things must

Fwd: win32-clipboard and Unicode zero bytes
Hi all, I''m forwarding this message from Brian Marick. If you run this test script and then paste the results into a Unicode aware text editor, you''ll notice that it only prints one character instead of three. I tried changing the strlen to _tcslen and strcpy to _tcscpy, but that didn''t help. I mucked around a bit with the MultiByteToWideChar function, too, but
