WoW freeze computer
Hi all, my problem is probably common (I actually asked for help for a similar problem in the past), but I cannot find any solution. While I play with World of Warcraft my computer keep freezing (totally, I have to push the reset button). I have Kubuntu 8.04 64 Bits and Wine 1.1.2 (but the problems started with the 0.9.59 and all the versions afterward) on a an Intel Core 2 Duo E6700, 2GB RAM,

Kubuntu 10.10 hangs up, while using DVDFab with wine 1.2/1.3
Hello, first of all, let me say sorry, for my ugly english ! In the past, I used DVDFab 7/8 with wine 1.2 on Kubuntu 10.04. Everything worked fine, without any special configuration. I used the Blu-Ray to Blu-Ray Function. Now, i did a new installation of Kubuntu 10.10, and DVDFab looks like this: DVDFAB 7.0.9.3 [Image: http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/1065/dvdfab7093.png ] DVDFab 8.0.7.3

Speed problem Ubuntu < WD TV Live
Dear all, I have experiencing some speed issues recently when moving files using Samba between a linux box (Kubuntu 10.10) and a media player called WD TV Live. Both are wired to a 100 Mb network, together with a Windows 7 box. In principle I believe is not a hardware issue. When I move files between the WD TV Live and the Windows box I get speeds of around 8 MB/s. Between Kubuntu and WDTV I get

nVidia GT218M [GeForce 315M] issues on kUbuntu 17.04 x86-64.
I will update the thread as soon as I get the hardware back. It was something serious like artifacts or no video in X so that I had to resort to proprietary drivers. So the question is whether this hardware is supported or not. On 2017-09-18 21:31, Ilia Mirkin wrote: > What seems to be the problem? nVidia GT218M [GeForce 315M] issues on kUbuntu 17.04 x86-64.
OK I got access to the hardware, it's Toshiba Satellite L730. One of the obvious problems is that there's no video in VLC nor in Dragon Player. Is this expected? Some output: --- yuriy at yuriy-Satellite-L730:~$ dmesg | grep NVID [ 2.752675] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: NVIDIA GT218 (0a8d00b1) ... root at yuriy-Satellite-L730:/home/yuriy# dpkg -l | grep nouv ii libdrm-nouveau2:amd64

8K HEVC decoding with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
Hi all, I have developed an Android VR player, which supports 4K video playback so far. I want to include the support for 8K video. The current Snapdragon 845 mobile platform supports up to 4K video playback, which lacks the support for my requirement. So I choose Android-x86 as my platform for development, which is Android OS runs on Intel x86 architecture. I've tried to play 8K(7680*3840)

Running Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 correctly in Wine
Hey, I have a copy of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 premium, and I am running a computer with Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit. I want to put Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 on the machine, but I tried before using Wine on Kubuntu, and no success: The sound files would not play and the sound effects wouldn't play. Is there a simple way I can fix this problem without me having to go get a copy of Windows

Clean up after "R CMD INSTALL" and/or "R CMD check"
G'day all, I noticed the following (new) behaviour of R 2.12.0, running on Kubuntu 10.10, when installed with sub-architectures: When I run "R CMD INSTALL" or "R CMD check" on the source directory of a package that contains C or FORTRAN code, R creates sub-directories src-32/ and src-64/ that seem to be copies of the src/ subdirectory plus the compiled objects. These

GeForce 7300 donation, anyone interested?
Hi folks, I appreciate what you are doing here at the nouveau project, as I find myself at the mercy of NVIDIA's binary blobs to be able to run Compiz and play some games, so it's great that you're developing the open source alternative. I've decided to donate to the project my GeForce 7300 GS which I no longer use, and of which you can make much better use than the box in my

[Bug 58378] [NV86] Distorted graphics on NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G after upgrade the kernel to 3.7.0 version
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58378 --- Comment #45 from Andreas Loew <awl1 at gmx.net> --- Hmm... While my card definitely is not at all defective (it works the exact same way it always has), I indeed also have some issues that make it impossible for me to still use the "blob" even on an attic distro like RHEL6: The most recent version of the NVidia proprietary

wine freezes entire System
hi there, I suppose, it's not an actual WINE problem, but I hope, you can at least tell me, where to get help. I'm running "Lineage 2" with WINE 1.3.10 on Kubuntu 10.10 with proprietary ATI graphics-driver. after a (seemingly) random period of time, the entire system freezes. the only thing possible is moving the mouse-cursor, which doesn't change it's style anymore,

errors with GeForce GTX 650 Ti and 3 monitors
FYI, I’ve downgraded to kernel 3.16.7-200.fc20.x86_64 and have not had any lockups for several days. So I guess this means I’ll stay at 3.16.7-200.fc20.x86_64 for the time being. Whatever fixes happened in 3.17 seemed to have made things worse, at least for me. -Rob > On Dec 5, 2014, at 6:32 PM, Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu> wrote: > > There were fixes in 3.17 that were
