[PATCH 1/2] libdrm/nouveau: new optimized libdrm pushbuffer ABI
This patch changes the pushbuffer ABI to: 1. No longer use/expose nouveau_pushbuffer. Everything is directly in nouveau_channel. This saves the extra "pushbuf" pointer dereference. 2. Use cur/end pointers instead of tracking the remaining size. Pushing data now only needs to alter cur and not both cur and remaining. The goal is to make the *_RING macros faster and make the

[PATCH] nouveau: avoid emitting new fences unnecessarily
Right now we emit on every kick, but this is only necessary if something will ever be able to observe that the fence completed. If there are no refs, leave the fence alone and emit it another day. This also happens to work around an issue for the kick handler -- a kick can be a result of e.g. nouveau_bo_wait or explicit kick, or it can be due to lack of space in the pushbuf. We want the emit to

[PATCH] nv10/exa: Spring-cleaning
* Kill the A8+A8 hack. Recent enough X servers (>=1.7) fall back to ARGB glyphs for drivers not supporting A8 render targets. * Kill all the global state. It doesn't matter a lot yet but it might if we get multicard working at some point. * Other random clean-ups with no functional changes. [PATCH 1/2] nv30-nv40: Rewrite primitive splitting and emission
The current code for primitive splitting and emission on pre-nv50 is severely broken. In particular: 1. Quads and lines are totally broken because "&= 3" should be "&= ~3" and similar for lines 2. Triangle fans and polygons are broken because the first vertex must be repeated for each split chunk 3. Line loops are broken because the must be converted to a line strip,

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: don't hold spin lock while calling kzalloc with GFP_KERNEL
- 'joi' on irc pointed out that this triggers a BUG_ON, because kzalloc could sleep. - The irq handler should restore the value NV03_PFIFO_CACHES, but still it's better if this stuff doesn't happen in the middle of fifo create context. I see no reason in spin locking pgraph create context, it isn't activated at that stage. - Move and rename the lock after some discussion with

[PATCH 1/6] drm/nv50: align size of buffer object to the right boundaries.
- In the current situation the padding that is added is dangerous to write to, userspace could potentially overwrite parts of another bo. - Depth and stencil buffers are supposed to be large enough in general so the waste of memory should be acceptable. - Alternatives are hiding the padding from users or splitting vram into 2 zones. [PATCH] libdrm/nouveau: safen up nouveau libdrm against concurrent access
Based on the original patch by Ilia Mirkin. Handle races between nouveau_bo_name_get, nouveau_bo_prime_handle_ref and unreffing. Because DRM_IOCTL_GEM_CLOSE is not refcounted, some special care was needed by holding the lock during some ioctls. nv50/gallium: a few comments about latest patches
Just wanted to communicate some thoughts I had while reading the diffs, even thought I didn't have the time to look at everything in detail yet. - nv50: use relocs rather than re-uploading TIC all the time It's nice that we can write relocs to arbitrary buffers, and it's much less work than emitting the whole state object obviously. Just, you forgot the card won't care until you

[PATCH 1/2] nouveau: avoid leaking fences while waiting
This fixes a memory leak in some situations. Also avoids emitting an extra fence if the kick handler does the call to nouveau_fence_next itself. Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu> Cc: "9.2 10.0" <mesa-stable at lists.freedesktop.org> --- TBH I'm pretty confused by the whole fence refcounting logic and its interaction with emits, updates, etc. However
