[Asus Eee PC 900] as replacement for legacy BRI phone
Hello, I own one of these netbooks Asus Eee PC 900, mine is running FreeBSD 7.0, and a Linux based cellphone, the OpenMoko Freerunner. Since some time I'm thinking in a replacement of my 'normal' BRI phone at home and the two items mentioned above let me think that the replacement should be UNIX based as well. The legacy BRI phone, around ten years old, even has more or less the same

any help with pyogg and pyvorbis?
Dear List, I'm just creating a little application for my openmoko freerunner, unfortunately in python, so that I have to use pyogg and pyvorbis(http://ekyo.nerim.net/software/pyogg/index.html) as wrappers around the C-functions and objects. I've got it all installed, after applying some patches and trying to run an example of encoding a wave-file I just get an empty ogg-file, the

folder in dovecot
Hello, I'm quite new to dovecot, and I have some questions about folders. At the moment I've a script that use fetchmail + procmail to get mail from the isp, and save the mail in different folder. The idea is to save mail from different mailing list in different folder. Now I've installed dovecot so i can read mail from different computers, and i want to export all the folders. I

Does anyone have a working proxyARP setup?
If you have a working proxyARP setup, will you please post it? I''ve tried to insert a Linux box between the DSL connection and the switch, but I''m getting nowhere. Everything works correctly when all the servers in this network use the switch to get to the DSL. Any box directly connected to the DSL also works correctly. http://www.sjdjweis.com/linux/proxyarp/ makes it sound

Please document this
Stephen, This REALLY needs to be fixed in the code; tc should reject as a syntax error any "add filter" command that does not include a "prio" parameter. It also needs to be documented. === From LARTC mailing list === > Dear list, > After much code crunching and beating my head against the wall > (literally), I discovered the faulty code. FXO answering quicker
Hi, I don't know if this is possible - but can I set up asterisk to answer the FSO line after one or two rings rather than four? I haven't (yet) found a configuration variable to let me do this... How does one increase the output buffer size?
In 2.4 kernels, there was a [bp]fifo that could be implemented with ''tc add'', but in 2.6 kernels, I find no way to create either of these fifos. I am able to increase txqueuelen. What I desire is a larger number of backlogged packetes before drops occur. How can the output buffer size be increased for HTB? -- gypsy

Wildcard X100P or TDM400P?
I'm looking to add a single FXO port to my Asterisk box. It looks like my options are a Digium Wildcard X100P off eBay for $6.99, or a Wildcard TDM400P with an FXO Module from Digium for $125. Can anyone explain the tradeoffs (other than the ability to put 4 FXO/FSO modules on the TDM400P). What about RTC for the system - I know the TDM400P provides it. Does the X100P? Thanks!

**OT** Fwd: oFono 1.0 has been released
When oFono launched, I announced the project to other projects that it may compliment. oFono has hit the 1.0 Milestone and has some serious backing if you missed my post a year or so ago and never heard of it. CELT for DAB broadcast radio
Hi all, Just a quick note to let you know that we are currently integrating CELT with our DAB transmission and reception software tools. We plan to have a working demo at the broadcast conference IBC 2009 in September where we have a small booth. We hope to be able to demonstrate a real-time DAB CELT encoder as part our our Live CD based on Ubuntu and GNU/Radio (

R on Mobile Devices (Android)
Hell R-list, At the cost of sounding far-fetched and almost incredulous, I would like to know if any R user is remotely considering the use of R on Mobile devices, and Android in particular. I really do not have an idea of the kind of definite incentives in terms of using R on Android, but having an analytical engine on a mobile phone would allow for micro statistics to be collected from the log

How much CPU power needed for asterisk
I'm thinking of placing Asterisk on an itx motherboard in a tiny case. The ITX motherboards top out around 400Mhz PII (in terms of power relative to a desktop). How much CPU would I need for an office of 50 people? How much disk storage for voicemail + OS? (typical / average) The system will have no PCI cards (no Digium FSO/FXO cards) - everything over the LAN connection. Thanks,

Wine NT Services / Serial Port
Hi! I'm currently working on a project to upgrade my car's display with NAV... Due to prohibitive high costs of oem solutions (and limited use except for nav), I decided to use a laptop, runnig that software... So, I already have MS Autoroute 2001 (european version). Against my expectations, this program runs fine with Wine release 20011004. However, the GPS Add-In doesn't work.

What determines DROP versus delay ("BACKLOG")?

IMQ slows computer to a crawl
I am attempting to implement IMQ on a 2.4.31 version kernel with iptables 1.3.3. I am following the example at http://www.linuximq.net/usage.html. When I enter the line iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o eth1 -j IMQ --todev1 (eth1 is the external interface), the computer slows to a crawl. OK, the CPU is only an AMD K6 233 which is not the world''s greatest CPU, but egress shaping is

SmartLink UPS - Suggestions as to which serial driver?
Although this SmartLink comes with a Linux program to monitor it, I'd rather use nut if possible. The biggest reason for preferring nut is that the supplied software forces one to set the On Battery time rather than allowing the battery to go critical and then sending a shutdown. Guessing how long the battery will last is problematical, especially as the battery ages. The other big reason
