ADS and RPC
I have a problem that recently appeared with ADS authentication.
I have a samba server that is an AD member on our domain, ourdomain.edu.
We are under a domain that is an empty root, call it 'theirdomain.net'.
Also under this root is another domain, call it 'theirdomain.edu. I
have found that RPC access has been disabled on the DC's in
theirdomain.edu and my samba server can no

Can asterisk be run as non root anymore?
safe_asterisk used to work fine but with v1.0.3 I am getting all kinds of
permission errors, intermittant failures, etc. Even with file permissions
relaxed and ownership set to asterisk it craps out. Seems to work fine
when run as root. Comments???

using posfix on the local LAN, with internet FQDN
Hi all,
I hope someone can help me with this please.
One of our clients has an in-house Postfix mailserver which basically
downloads mail for the individual users from our mail server hosted on
the web using fetchmail.
They use our SMTP server to send mail. Their email clients are then
setup to get & send mail from the server, on 192.168.2.254 (for POP3 &
SMTP). All mail between them

New RPM packages for CentOS4.0
Greetings list,
It's been a while since I've been able to focus on asterisk packaging
but this weekend I took some time to audit and recompile packages for
CentOS 4.2. You can find them here.
ftp://ftp.linuxsys.com/ftp/pub/releases/CentOS-4.0
You have your choice of 1.2.1 or 1.0.10 releases. If you need zaptel
modules then install this kernel as well:

OpenLinux 2.2: LISA install leaves root access without password
Hello,
I believe I''ve found a bug in the installation process of OpenLinux 2.2
when using the LISA boot disk. During the installation a temporary passwd
file is put on the new file system containing the user "help" set uid=0
gid=0 and no password. Once you are prompted to set the root password and
default user password a new passwd and shadow file is created yet the help

PRI Errors
I just had the same exact problem this morning. The only thing I've done in the last couple of days is update update zaptel. I rolled back my zaptel to 2/11/04 from 3/8/04. And kept my libpri from 3/8/04. I never had this error before updated. I had other issues, but not this one.

LDA and POP3/IMAP user_query
How do I get IMAP+POP3 vs. LDA to use different user_query statements?
The problem is that the input fields are different.
IMAP/POP3 is an email address
LDA is a username
I have written a long statement to try and cater for both however it still
only works 99% of the time, and the remaining 1% fails. The 1% that fails
sees the mail being delivered to the wrong mbox. In this particular case

Trouble with T38/Dialogic
Hello, I am working with 1.8.32.2 which I have patched with t38-gateway and
PRACK. t38 is tested and working fine with Zoiper client but I can't get the
t.38 software from Biscom (FAXCOM) to talk. In my first attempts I found
FAXCOM announces that it supports 100rel so I added the PRACK patch hoping
that would do the trick. Now it gets a little further but * complains about

Well I am about to reserve a small padded room so I can bounce off the
walls without inflicting tooo much damage... Nothing is making sense at
this point. I tried several releases last night before settling on the
latest CVS (seemed to work the best). Asterisk was running GREAT for the
first few hours. Now since around 10AM EST SIP can't register and incoming

dot file hiding
Hi all. I asked a similiar question a few days ago, but either missed it
or got no responses. The archive also turned up empty...
Anyway, no matter what I've tried, I can't disable visibility of dot files
in my home directory, or elsewhere.
What exactly do I need to do to hide dot files?
I've tried 'hide dot files = true' as well as 'hid files = .*' and various

OT: How do I know if I should have IO-APIC?
With regards to the IRQ sharing situation on 400P/X100P cards how would
I know if I can use IO-APIC?
I am running RHEL 3 on a Dell PowerEdge 1400SC. RHEL installs without
IO-APIC support. Is this because RH is overly conservative or because
it queried my machine and that is the appropriate option?
Does RHEL 3 have a kernel for IO-APIC if appropriate or am I expected to
do a custom kernel build
