comparing levels of aggregation with negative binomial models
Dear R community, I would like to compare the degree of aggregation (or dispersion) of bacteria isolated from plant material. My data are discrete counts from leaf washes. While I do have xy coordinates for each plant, it is aggregation in the sense of the concentration of bacteria in high density patches that I am interested in. My attempt to analyze this was to fit negative binomial

weird bug with Seagate 3TB USB3 drive
Banging my head against a Seagate 3TB USB3 drive. Its marketing name is: Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive STAY3000102 format(1M) shows it identify itself as: Seagate-External-SG11-2.73TB Under both Solaris 10 and Solaris 11x, I receive the evil message: | I/O request is not aligned with 4096 disk sector size. | It is handled through Read Modify Write but the performance

4k sector support in Solaris 11?
If I want to use a batch of new Seagate 3TB Barracudas with Solaris 11, will zpool let me create a new pool with ashift=12 out of the box or will I need to play around with a patched zpool binary (or the iSCSI loopback)? -- Dave Pooser Manager of Information Services Alford Media http://www.alfordmedia.com

OpenSSH and CBC
Hello, I saw that OpenSSH release 6.7 removed all CBC ciphers by default. Is CBC therefore considered as broken and unsecure (in general or SSH implementation)? I also read a lot of references (see below) but still not clear to me what's the actual "security status" of CBC and why it has been removed in general. http://www.openssh.com/txt/release-6.7 sshd(8): The default set

[LLVMdev] Moving on from Hello World
Hello everybody, I've been following the guide at ( http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html ) for Writing a llvm pass that outputs Hello World. After a little bit of help from Stackoverflow, this is now working fine and running. My problem is that I'm struggling to get much further on from the hello world example - I've not been able to find the write incantation to access else

[LLVMdev] Moving on from Hello World
Ah - thank you Eli for your reply :) obviously that's a little disappointing :( So if I did want to insert some code into llvm source on my machine (I'm building the debug version) that, say, iterated over the SelectionDAG - where might be a good place to put it? Any recommendations on Perc H700 controller on Dell Rx10 ?
Hi folks: At work, I have an R510, and R610 and an R710 - all with the H700 PERC controller. Based on experiments, it seems like there is no way to bypass the PERC controller - it seems like one can only access the individual disks if they are set up in RAID0 each. This brings me to ask some questions: a. Is it fine (in terms of an intelligent controller coming in the way of ZFS) to have the
