Is anybody else dealing with Security Metrics?
Seems that some of the credit card processors demand the use of Security
Metrics to test their web hosting for meeting a fairly good security
standard.
First, it doesn't matter if they do online credit card processing or
not, just credit card processing period. This makes some sense, as
someone could hack in a form pretending to ask for this information...
so there is at least some

Status of latest round of Allison recordings
Just wanted to catch everybody up. So many people contributed to the
work list that I'd probably miss several if I tried to notify just
them. Many people contributed funds, too, which I greatly appreciate.
We were able to get the entire list done, which added up to two full
hours of work on Allison's part. And that's just the recordings --
I'm doing the editing myself.

Dear all,
I've already install new samba 2.2.5 at Redhat 7.3.

[LLVMdev] Looking for a fix to memory leak in DWARF support
David, (and everyone else)
I am forced to do some maintenance work on a fairly old LLVM branch
(likely based on release 3.1) that among other issues has a major problem
with memory leak somewhere around DWARF debug support.
In fact customer is unable to build with -g at all - simply running out of
memory on their project...
I seem to remember that there has been a major fix related to it,

For those of you that uses syn Text Editor to edit .R files
Hi,
sorry to bother you, and that this is probably not the right list :-),
but I read that some of you might use syn as Editor
for .R files. I've released an unofficial Version of the syn Text Editor
with improved support for R (I'm the initial developer of this program,
btw.). syn is a Windows 32 Program (Win9x, NT4, 2000), but maybe it runs
also inside Wine, I didn't try it.

per-user limit?
I am seeing a problem where users are limited to 6 imap logins total.
One of my users has a bunch of phones and computers, and wants them all
on at the same time.
I'm looking through my configuration, and I cannot see a limit on how
many times a single user can connect. He is connecting from different
IPs.
Any ideas? My logs show the following error when they attempt to auth

[ADV] New book: The Accessible Web
Gentle Web Development Folk:
Just in time for RailsConf, I''m happy to announce Jeremy Sydik''s
book, "The Accessible Web", is now available in beta. This is
particularly sweet as Jeremy and I first discussed this book in the
hallways of last year''s conference.
This book is all about making your website accessible web sites--

is there someone else on here who can help ? I think if we can
demonstrate some traction, it would go a long way in both the upstream
engagement and the conversation with Red Hat - since we can then

and Josef''s restore utility, plus a bunch of other things with mostly
minor impact. The shortlog is attached at the end of this email.

Desired Install in MotorHome
I've got a client who would love to be able to leave an asterisk
server running sompelace, and achieve telephone connectivity using an
IP phone from within his Motorhome in his words "I want to be able to
work from a mountaintop in Glacier National Park"
I've done some initial testing, and a SNOM200 SIP phone comes close
enough to working that I have not ruled out the idea as

Failsafe AGI using AEL
For the mailing list archive and for anyone else interested.
A few years ago we needed to automatically run a second AGI if the first AGI failed i.e. a "failsafe" setup. Mainly because I'm not a very good programmer. 8-|
The code below is very similar to what we use in production. This code is also at http://pastebin.com/LBaLhdfJ for a while. "sm" stands for Switch

getdents spinning on 0x7fffffff
I was flipping through the code recently and noticed that we still have
the double whammy of allocating dir entry positions with
parent_dir->counter++ and that weird setting of f_pos to 2^31-1.
So after enough creates (and deletes :)) in a directory we end up with
an entry item whose key is past that value. f_pos gets rewound instead
of being set to that magical EOF. readdir() gets stuck

Looking for automatic sound announce device
I'm looking for a device that will announce sounds from other devices

The Grandstream phones are already set up for ammouncements by pressing

I need a device that will detect and play sounds automatically from
other devices such as a talking clock, driveway sensor or other home

new package: eha
A few days ago I uploaded to CRAN a new package called 'eha', which
stands for 'Event History Analysis'. Its main focus is on proportional
hazards modeling in survival analysis, and in that respect eha can
be regarded as a complement and an extension to the 'survival'
package. In fact eha requires survival. Eha contains three functions
for proportional hazards
