Database Query on the fly Using Forms
I am a freshman when it comes to RoR, and I haven''t been able to figure this out. I need to figure out how to query records in my database using form check boxes (or radio buttons) then display them in that same instance. What would this look? I have been told that just putting a question mark after here, :conditions => field = ?, but what would the argument look like? Thanks in

Debian libguestfs packages updated
Hi, I finally updated the Debian libguestfs packages: http://honk.sigxcpu.org/con/Libguestfs__Virtual_Machine_Image_Swiss_Army_Knife.html Sine we can't run the fuse tests easily in a chroot (since we might be unable to load the module) I'm using the attached patch to skip the tests if /dev/fuse doesn't exist. This probably isn't clean enough to go upstream though. The other

Video syntax
I'm planning to update Mango <http://mango.io/wtf?> to facilitate adding video to Markdown documents. At the moment, of course, it's possible to include video by including the appropriate HTML. There are three reasons, though, that having syntax (official or unofficial) for video is a good idea: - *Simplicity.* Writing something like [youtube:gPbh6Ru7VVM] is easy. Including

Smbd internal error and panic with nfs-mounted share
We're trying to share a directory that's mounted via NFS from another server; when we connect to that share, smbd panics and tries to dump core. This is samba-3.0.30 on Alpha/Tru64-4.0G. The directory we're trying to use is exported from a Linux box called sesfs (Centos 4.4) and mounted on the Alpha server via NFS as /sesfs/scratch. I've appended below an edited summary from

Proxies
I really like the idea of Mock Proxies as explained in Brian Takita''s post here: http://pivots.pivotallabs.com/users/brian/blog/articles/352-introducing-rr I posted to this list eariler with an incomplete implementation of .stops_mocking in the thread "Mocking Time, delegating to original object." The Mock Proxy pattern would make this simpler.

fts_squat hanging on some messages
Hello, I recently upgraded to dovecot 2.0.2 (on gentoo ~amd64) and now fts_squat's index building seems to hang for some of my mailboxes. The imap process gets stuck at 100% cpu usage and dovecot.index.search is never touched. I traced the problem to a message (attached) for one of the problematic mailboxes. Also attached are a full backtrace and the output of dovecot -n. The problem

cmd line parameter to set windows version?
Maybe I have overlooked this in the docu, but I'd like to know if there is a command line option to set the windows version, like eg. wine --version=98 "c:\\foo\\bar\\spam.exe" wine --version=xp "d:\\honk.exe" I am asking because I have quite a lot of windows software (ie., games) that has buggy installers and/or core engines, and switching the wine default version *every*

Hello, Can Asterisk perform as a H323 Gatekeeper? Here is my scenario: I have a customer that has a calling card program that will be transmitted as VOIP from a Cisco 5300 in Hong Kong and terminated here in North America. The catch is that, the termination is being handled by a third party company and we still need be the 'buffer' in which we pass the VOIP traffic to the

Placing a MWI on-off call...
My grateful thanks to whoever can guide me in implementing this... I have a need to place calls via Asterisk Manager Protocol to a legacy PBX and twiddle its MWI lights. By some means I get notified that an MWI light has to be changed. Via AMP: 1. Send an ORIGINATE command honking up an incoming port on the PBX via a TA804. a. I presume that the TA804 should be a SIP channel. yes/no? b.

wireless card on amd64
All, Over the weekend I purchased a linksys wireless-g PCI card for use in my amd64 box. I downloaded ndiswrapper, compiled, installed, tried to load the driver off the CDROM and it was a no-go. I have do this on another box with an amd sempron. Difference being 32 bit versus 64 bit... Seems there are no 64 bit drivers for the wireless card. Anyone have a wireless card working on a 64 bit

FW: fairly simple file I/O
OK, my apologies. I am sure this is a question that has been answered before. But I have looked all over the web and can't find an answer for it. I promise, wasting your time and bandwidth is my last resort. So here goes: I have an ASCII file formatted like so: Label 1.1 Time 1 Label 1.2 Array of data from time 1 Label 2.1 Time 2 Label 2.2 Array of data from time 2 Label

Storage Resource RAID & Disk type
Are there any best practice recommendations on RAID & disk type for the shared storage resource for a pool? I''m adding shelves to a HP MSA2000 G2, 24 drives total, minus hot spare(s). I can use 600GB SAS drives (15k rpm), 1TB or 2TB Midline SAS drives (7200rpm). I need about 3TB usable for roughly 30 VM guests, 100GB each, web servers so I/O needs are nominal. I''m also

Performance and scalability
Hi, My question is. What are your performance experiences compared to languages such as PHP, PERL and ASP? Could you build a site as big as Ebay on rails and have it perform fast enough? I''m afraid that the generalisation in components I see so much users asking for will make the framework too heavy compared to a clean programmed for perfomance PHP application. Probably even

ZFS for my home RAID? Or Linux Software RAID?
Hello All, I build a new Storage Server to backup my data, keep archives of client files, etc I recently had a near loss of important items. So I built a 16 SATA bay enclosure (16 hot swappable + 3 internal) enclosure, 2 x 3Ware 8 port RAID cards, 8gb RAM, dual AMD Opertron. I have a 1tb boot drive and I put in 8 x 1.5tb Seagate 7200 drives. In the future I want to fill the other 8 SATA bays
