winbind SID S-1-5-18 mapping inconsistency with roaming profiles
4.1.9
Hi
We have an id mapping problem with one SID in particular:
wbinfo --sid-to-name=S-1-5-18
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM 5
With the ranges specified in our smb.conf, the mapping is not derived
from the idmap db.
Here is a user stevec who has just logged out of windows and had his
profile written for the first time:
# file: stevec/
# owner: stevec
# group: domain\040users
user::rwx

Custom Puppet CA?
Can someone, anyone, help me understand what it takes -- if indeed
it''s even possible -- to use a custom CA with puppetmasterd. Such
that, for every client it signs, the cert for that client actually
says something meaningful about my organization, and was ultimately
signed by our own root CA.
I made a valid sub-CA for my puppet server, signed by my
organization''s root CA. I

AJAX calls don''t do validation
Chatting on the IRC channel today to people (thanks!) it came up that
submitting a form remote bypasses the :validates... in the model. At
least thats how it looks from my tests and what people said is the
current behaviour.
Is this the case?
If so, is there a way around it or will it change in the future? I can
imagine good reasons for the current behaviour.
have fun,

How to tell R where to look for libgcc
I have R-261 running on a Linux 2.6 system, which has gcc-4.1.2
installed. It was working fine until the sysadmin installed an older
version of gcc (3.4.6) which was required for an older app. The
gcc-3.4.6 install is under /usr/local/bin.
Now when a user invokes R, the error message
"/opt/r-261/lib/R/bin/exec/R: /usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.so.1: version

CentOS5 on Dell Latitude D620, Docking Station & Dual Monitors???
I've got a Dell Latitude D620, dell docking station and a Dell 2007WFP
(20" widescreen lcd). With XP I had the laptop screen and the lcd
working as dual screens. But for the life of me I cannot get CentOS5
to work with dual screens. Anyone have this working? I would greatly
appreciate any assistance.

Dual Monitors
I have a PC with an Nvidia Quadro Card in it and it is running CentOS
4.0(all current). I want to set up dual monitors but when I go into
the display
gui to set it up, X reloads and an error comes up and says it cant load X
using this config.
This is the only video card in the system and I am trying to hook up two
identical ViewSonic VG800 monitors. Single monitor works fine but when try

Re: Dual Monitors -- "nv" v. "nvidia"
From: Richard Humphrey <rlhumphrey at gmail.com>
> Thanks that did the trick
Although nVidia does put people on the Freedomware "nv" driver,
and it can handle multiple framebuffers for Xinerama, VIVO
(video in, video out), etc...,
the Standardware "nvidia" driver is far easier to deal with for
single framebuffer (no Xinerama) multiple displays, VIVO, etc...,

Dual monitors have same identifier
Hi
My desktop is Kubuntu 15.10 with GeForce GTX 970 and two monitors, using
the Nouveau drivers.
In System Settings > Display and Monitor, the two monitors are shown but
with the same identifier, DVI-0. This is giving some problems such as
random allocation of primary screen and no right click on one of the
monitors.
How can I get the monitors to have different identifiers?
Thank you

Independent dual monitors on CentOS 7
Does anyone have the magic incantation required to getting
*independent* multi-monitors going under CentOS 7? Ideally
under xfce or trinity, but I'm interested about GNOME/KDE
observations as well.
I'm trying to move my main workstation from CentOS5 to CentOS7
and while the spanned desktop works, not having independent
monitors really cuts into my productivity. i.e.: I couldn't
